Post Oil tank

My 964 is in need of a new oil tank.
Finally, after months of trying, an oil-leak has been traced to the 'hidden' face of the tank, which has become porous.

Has anyone ever come across this before and does anyone know the cost (pref. UK) of a new tank?

Hello

never had seen that, very comon are rustet trough oil level sensor plates and corrosion where the dirt was stuffed into and winteruse.

if you remove the tank be prepared to renew the long hose from the oilfilterconsole and the two short rubber hoses from the tank to the thermostate the bellow into the body and the knee from the enginecase to the long hardline at the suction side.

Thanks, but I have ordered a new tank. I have spent soooo much chasing this oil-leak that £400 more to finish the job will be money well spent.

A tip for others that may follow - any oil-leak which seems to be from the thermostat area (where there are many, many pipes and unions), check it's not actually comimg from above!

Hello

never had seen a rustet trough 964/993 tank and if they had rust they had isurfacerust on top or on the inside wall.

Have a good look to descripe or make pictures to inform the board.

Would help others saving money on searching the problem.
