Emergency Indicator Flashing
Hi all
I have a pretty bizarre thing happening in my car, The hazard lights (in the rev counter) flash intermittently from time to time without reason (ok I suppose there is a reason). Its almost as if the car alarm is being armed and disarmed. The indicators (outside) also flash.
Has anyone else has a similar problem?
Any comments welcome!
Thanks
Edited to say: Another thing, It appears to only happen when its raining ??

I think its the automatic rain alert, option code X372.
Pretty rare option this, as most people just look outside to see if its raining. I think it can be wired to the wipers to allow automatic operation of the wipers!

My PET shows X372 is the automatic UFO-alert; is it wrong ? :-)

If you have an after-market alarm (or an original, in the UK) there is a relais to flash direction lamps when alarm is armed and disarmed.
The relais could have the return spring working loose, causing flashes.

Richard,
I have have seen the hazard lights flash intermittently on my friends BMW E36 M3GT while driving the Nurburgring and entering the banked (high G force) turn known as the "Karussel". We came to the conclusion that the car must be equipped with some kind of accident/ABS/airbag sensors that in an event of an accident sets off the hazardlights. These sensors seem to react on the high G forces and set off the hazardlights intermittently for a few seconds.
Perhaps Porsche has something similar to these sensors and that in your case they are "playing up".
Ciao,
Johannes E.
