my c2 cab finally arrived BUT need some parts, PICTURES
hey guys, i posted 2 weeks ago that i bought a 91 c2 cb with 119K miles on it. well today i finally got it. my first impression what a P.O.S. the hood is bent and doesnt align, the side door has a big dent, the right side skirt is missing the small oeice that connects to the rear bumper, the front fog lights are both broken, the front bimper's bottom is messed up, the plastic window in the top is yellow.... damm i know it needed work but this is 2 much ****.
the interior is better than i expected.
well the car has a big leak, you could see it coming out the plastic cover in the bottom on the engine.
now i decide to start the car , the engine sounded strong and didnt smoke.
but almost everylight in the dash is on, the seat belts, air bag, power top, ! , the wing light. then i decided to drive the car and found out that the brakes dont even work. but of course i still drove it, and it drove very nice and strong. then i decide to put the top down, and guess what the car dont even have the key to unlock the top. iam going nuts here!
now if i can get some help from you guys it will be very appreciated.
1- what up with all the lights and how to fix them
2- the rear wing gears appear to be broken, where can i get them
3- the car has new brakes and suspension (i have the receipt), but now the brakes have almost no pressure!!!!!i didnt see any leaks could be just bleeding job
4- does anyone has a n extra key for the top i can buy
5- the clutch seems fine but does make a little noise and is a little hard compared to my 944 cab
6-when the car is on the ac fan inside stay on i cant get it to stop
7- the car doesnt even have a manual , does any one have an extra one for sale
8- i think after all this typing, i should just sell this car and move on
i will post pictures tomorrow as soon as i wash it.
peace

Ouch. How'd you end up with such a dud? I hope you didn't pay too much for it. anyway...
2- If the gears are broken your best bet might be a used part, as I'm pretty sure the entire replacement from Porsche is really expensive. I don't think I've ever heard of anyone else's gears in spoiler transmission breaking.
3- If the brakes haven't been bled in a while that'd be the place to start. Water in the lines, old fluid; the reason for your lack of brake response could be any combination of things. Flush it out, put your own in, and start the diagnosis from there.
8- I know you're disappointed in the state in which the car arrived, but let the whole situation sit for a while. Give the car a thorough appraisal, and when you've decided how much time, energy and money it will take to get it to where you want it, then make your ultimate decision regarding whether to sell it or not. The brakes, for instance, could be a quick, cheap (I'd say less than a half a day to bleed the entire system including the slave cylinder) fix that would really pay off. Once again, sorry to hear that your 964 experience has been so painful, but it may work out fine in the end.

welcome to the group! Sounds like you will be needing a bit of group therapy!
By the way there is no key to the top. On mine I pull up the emergency brake and hit the rocker switch on the left side of the dash.
Sounds scary

Mine was not perfect when I purchased it either. Ended up with alot of nickknack parts to replace and a total repaint, because of scratches ,dings, chips, and a cracked windscreen. Check out the thread that I posted today intitled Project 964, wish I had more.

i just tried to open the top, but of course it doesnt work. i just noticed something also, the windshield is cracked in the bottom, man dosnt it ever end. also, my car is a 91 on the tittle, but on the door it says july 1990. is that normal.
the truth is that the car runs really good, i paid a little over 10k for it shipped, so its not that bad, but it looks like iam going to put a lot in it. anyway, i just contacted a friend whi works on 911s and he is coming tomorrow, hesaid if it runs strong, everything else is not to bad to fix, so i will let you know tomorrow how it goes. i will also post few pictures
thanks for the replies

Not bad at all Mike. It will be a worthy envestment. Consequently, mine is a 92 but the production date is Aug. 91. I just tell everyone that it's a 91, afterall that was when it was born.

i can appreciate your frustrations Mike. looks like ya got some work laid out for you there. hopefully, it wont require too much green or time on your part.
i am curious. and i hope you dont mind me asking this. what did you expect to get for 10K? or, maybe i should ask, how was this 911 described or presented to you prior to purchase?
thanks and good luck to you.

Hey Mike, let's see if a bit of math helps you to feel a bit better...
I'd say a 91 in good (not great, but not your car either) shape with those miles would go anywhere from $18k to $20k. So if that's the case, you should have at least $6k to spend on repairs and still come out ahead. You say the engine's in great shape, that's a big money saver. And also the clutch sounds to be in fairly good shape, so that's another. Aesthetically, it's probably hurting you right now, but that money you saved on the sticker price could go a long way to bringing your 964 back to life.
Of course, if you didn't expect to spend that $6k, none of that makes you feel any better...

well the seller told me this:
the body needs some work , car runs strong, new suspension and tires and brakes, and everything work fine, rough interior.
now top doesnt work, the rear spoiler doesnt work, brakes are weak, and check engine light, air bag , seat belt, spoiler, warning light and all on. and a cracked windshield.
the funny thing is that the best thing in the car is the interior.
so i called him and told him how disapointed i was, but iam not going to break his ***** over it. its a part of buying a car without seing it and i will live with it.
the car does run strong though but does have oils leaks, i will know tomorrow how bad they are.
the body work and paint is the least of my worries, the other issues are.

Just hold out on those for now. Yuo can find the vents and the foglights on ebay pretty cheap sometimes. But try Pelican located on the home page. There are other vendors that you can get parts from aswell.
