Talking keyless entry

Hi Everyone

Has onyone fitted the additional keyless entry system. I have a German 964 cab with the original porsche factory fitted alarm and an additional immobilisor, although this has been bypassed.

I did not want to have a new alarm system fitted as this one gives me very little trouble and i recall someone mentioning that you can buy a porsche keyless fob kit somewhere.

Has anyone fitted this and is it difficult.

Thanks
Rob

Rob

Speak to Jim Gann at Hamilton & Palmer - they fit all the alarm systems to Porsche in GB. He will know the best solution I expect.

less than $140

I put in a prestige unit, it works with the P computer and the alarm system
opens the doors and flashes the lights so I will know if it is locked or not

Can anyone speak to the quality of the 964 factory alarm? My neighborhood has been experiencing a large number of car thefts recently, and I was wondering how safe I am. Is an aftermarket alarm advised?

Thanks.

Randal, you and I need to get together via email...I have the same unit on "reserve" at a local stereo shop...just trying to convince myself to do it.

I do want EVERYTHING to work properly, and I have some questions regarding what wire you need to hookup to the unit so the car "senses" that you are opening it by key, when in fact you're using the keyless "plunger" to unlock the doors.

The unit is $100 and they will install if for FREE...but I'm no fool, NO ONE messes with the wiring in my Rocket!

I'll be taking this one on myself.

Eric, why in the world would you think someone would want to steal your car??

I think the factory alarm works just as good as any other, if the car is accessed without the key, your car will throw a fit and they won't be able to start it.

...but then I digress, honestly, if someone really wants your car...they'll figure out a way to get it.

The only thing you can do is make it more difficult for them to steal your prize fighter. My Father used to say, (okay, this is a Forrest Gump moment) "for every minute of hard work you do to earn $$$$$$ to purchase your worldly possessions, there's someone out there working HALF the amount of time figuring out how to steal it".

Think about that, and it will certainly **** you off!
