who has the most miles on their original 964 motor
well i just bought a 1991 964 with 120k miles, at first i tought thats not much miles for a porsche, since i have owned many high miles 944s that run strong.
but now after a little search i realized that a lot of people are afraid of high miles and are considering rebuilts at 100k .
i hope iam wrong , so please any feedback is appreciated

thats what iam talking about, you dont see a lot high miles 964.
if you go to the 944 / 944 turbo forum, almost everyone has over 130k , and a lot of 200k miles cars.
i still beleive that these motors will go as far as 200k if taking care of. i have seen very high mileage 3.2 engines that are pretty solid but no experience with the 3.6l one.
anyway thanks guys for the replies, i guess my 120k miles are pretty high compared to the average car

155,904 miles and runs like a bat out of..... I did have a top-end rebuilt @ 148,000 miles mostly for precaution because the emission numbers had climbed.
I think the main reason you don't see really high milage 964 all over the place is because they are really quite rare cars to begin with.

89 C4 with 121K and still runs strong, had a top-end rebuild early on because of valve guide wear. I agree that they are quite rare my year only imported 1117 into the USA, makes you wonder how many are still around. IMHO high mileage is no factor if the engine is well maintained, my Lexus LS400 has over 220K and still runs fine.

146,000 and still running strong., although the engine is about to be dropped just to fix a few oil leaks and put on that lwt flywheel that's been sitting in the garage for about 8 months now.
