Default Carrera GT in the lane next to me!!!!!!!

Firstly....
I must say that driving in Westchester and Greenwich, I get to see many amazing cars. It's not quite like London, but still impressive.
If you've seen my other posts, I rarely turn down a chance to open her up... Even though I drive slowly 90% of the time.

The Carrera GT slowly made its way up to me in traffic. This time, the traffic was quite heavy, preventing any "real" tests to be conducted.
The middle aged, muscular faced gentleman looked over at me through his dark lensed glasses. He gave me a wave as we sat there cruising a mere 30 mph... The traffic opened in my lane, leaving an easy 150 meters of distance to the car in front of me.. So I kicked her into hi boost, and opened up second gear to about 5500 rpms... Due to the all wheel drive, she just hunkered and took off violently... When I backed off, I'm almost certain she kicked out a flame.... The GT caught up, and I could see that the driver had tapped into my adrenaline cause he started revving his motor and making faces!!!!

This car sounded more like a Ferrari F50 or 360 Challenge car than anything else. It revved like a Japanese speed bike too!!!
Unbelievable..
We made our way through traffic, and he got in front of me.. unfortunately, he never really opened her up even though he had the chance... Did I scare him with the fire??
It would have been an interesting race...
I pretty much got off the highway, without "getting off"... It was painful.
I will post some pics I snapped while driving behind him later from home.

Well, if you popped a wheelie like in your Avatar, that would certainly have given him pause!

No problem... It's rare that one gets to see such a car on the open road! It's worth sharing when it happens.. Again I wished he had given it some stick!!

Dove,
Hey Paul, long time no speak... I can't keep track of your cars!!
I believe you already have the gift for getting "flamed" on the forum!!! Wait that was during your wide body conv, and boxster days!! ;^) (kidding)

The flame is generated by unburnt fuel running through the system. Since my car is turbo charged, and runs rich for the most part, it will dump fuel into the system high in the rpms to keep things safe. Since my muffler is gutted, it just kicks out a red or blue flame depending on the circumstances... Hard up shifts, and toe heeling can cause this...
Before I sell this car, I must capture this phenomenon on camera!!!

Cheers,

Greg

Paul,

You might be interested to know that you can buy a 'flame' kit from somewhere - I think I saw it on Pistonheads.

Paul,
Technically if you go with a set of cams, and add larger injectors and alter the fuel map, she may kick out a flame. NA cars do it in race situations, but not like the turbo cars.
I must say that people flip out when they see it. That and they hit the brakes, not really knowing what's going on.
My rear bumper is a tad charred too. :^)

Nice to know someone actually drives a GT rather than locks it away as a so-called 'investment!'
