993 stereo ????
anybody ever fitted 993 doorcards with the 3 way speaker set-up ??
change of plan on the front speakers in my 964 cab ..............
taking out the cdt components and putting them in my old rover .
and i'm now going to fit a set of dynaudio esotar components .
class set-up , but the tweeter is massive !!!!
i'm thinking the tweeters might fit where the mid-range goes in a 993 set-up .
can anybody tell me the size of a 993 mid-range driver ?
will be making my own speaker "pods" , but think it might look better using 993 door-cards and speaker covers , rather than a full custom door build or kick panel !!!

had another look through rod birch's excellent website ...........
looks like i will have to put the tweeters elsewhere ( yes , they really are that big !!)
more hassle and more expense
will have a proper look next weekend and keep you all posted
will this car ever get finished ?

Jesus H.......
thats HUGE...............what size is the drive unit itself? surely not that large........
I know I had to (ahem) modify the larger hole in the door card as my 6 1/2 inches wouldn't fit......so I just made the cutout larger, and then remover the carrier for the speaker. Fits now.....

Any links to pictures? it maybe possible to just place the drive unit in the older carrier, that's what I did with the tweeters on the Alpine, then rotated them to point towards me.......
mind you these plastic carriers had to be modified as well.......ho hum

Are you sure that's not a midrange?

Or is the surround of the tweeter as big as a midrange?

Since the tweeter's actually pretty small, it look like it's just the mount that's frickin' ridiculous in size, maybe you can mount it from behind. The existing hole is about 2" in diameter, big enough for the tweeter to sort of "poke through from behind," if you can picture what I mean. Directionality might be a problem, though...

Ahhh,
Now I see.........
Dynaudio make great units, most people don't know that they may have their drivers in their speakers you know.......Had some in my old Neat Petites, beautiful sweet sound.
good luck, sorry I don't know the answer, but it should sound great when done.

i'm thinking i'll have to either build kick panels to house the tweeters , or make some pods to screw to the door .
what i was thinking was to cover the door builds with the 993 hi-fi option covers and doorcards .
that way i'll still have a "factory" look .
most of the stereo is "stealth" fitted
