Sorry to hear the news Tony. Sounds like a bit of a nightmare. Without stating the obvious, have you checked that you didn't buzz the engine with the downshift, or is it OK?

Tony,
Sorry about the car, what can you say other than at leat you were using it for it's intended purpose....I was rammed by a knucklehead in a 20 yr old Ford Escort with a boat on the top and I can tell you I would rather have had your epxerience, at least you were enjoying yourself.

Off topic question but could you tell me something about your wheels, I currently have design 90s but am looking for some wheels which are 17" but are more angular than Cups. I would say that they were RUFs maybe? Are they still available?

Thanks for your help,
Cheers,

Rob,

Guess I have buzzed the engine; Question is have I done any damage? I drove it off the circuit and 9M have been driving it in and out the garage and no reports of any problems, so fingers crossed. I'll need an extended thrash to convince myself it's OK.

Christer,

I'm not entirely sure 9M would want another red 964 cluttering up his workshop for months . Engine rebuild is provisionaly "scheduled" for winter.

Kevin,

You're right. I'd be a lot more teed off if someone else had done the damage. I don't feel too bad about it because I knew it would happen one day and the damage isn't so bad.
The wheels are RUF's 17inch, and I like them as well. AFAIK they are no longer available - the RUF site lists 18ins wheels for 964's now.
I can sell you 3

Tony,
I thought as much, shame about the new RUFs imho 17" wheels are aesthetically ideal on the 964, 18s are a little too much for me.

There are some listed on ebay but they are polished and in oz! (see link)

Best of luck in gettting the car fettled, not sure where you are located but the Porsche Bodyshop near Manchesterairport did a decent job for me, Lloyds is their trading name I think,

Here a poor pic of them on the car.
The ebay set are a fair price - wonder how much shipping would cost.

9M have a body shop and what I have seen the work is good.

Yep, I really like the look of those, will keep my eyes open for some.

As regards 9m I'm sure they'll do a good job, I 'm still with Hartech in Bolton who are great but 9m are more local to me....
