Yet more damage to my car...
Theft this time.
Went out to the car this morning to find it
a) unlocked
b) with one less window than it had yesterday
c) full of glass
d) missing a satnav system
e) with a damaged dashboard
The stupid bas**rds couldn't even manage to take the stereo out.
So, glass has been changed today (actually replaced with a plastic one until Autoglass can get me a real one (thanks Autoglass)
Satnav will be an insurance claim (Ipaq is on the office insurance).
Rest of it will be out of my pocket. £300 excess on the insurance.
Needless to say I'm pretty mad.

That really sux. It's like you've been personally violated
Not to belittle your bad fortune, but can you tell me what kind of Nav system you had in the car? (if it's not too painful to talk about) Thanks and good luck. Hope you find a better place to park.

Rob, what can we say? Hope it all gets sorted out quickly and painlessly. Do you normally leave all your stuff in there? How did it happen (how could it be unlocked????)
(Disclaimer: On second reading I must stress that the comment to Don was a joke, and does not carry inference of any nature. I have left it in all the same though, as I do not believe in censorship)
Roll on September....

Christer, no offense taken. We had our home robbed years ago and that's the way I felt at the time, and with my relatively low "flash point" it was wierd knowing that someone you didn't want was in your home. UGH!

Rob, this is truly a horrible thing and to see the damage to the dash surrounding the stereo and the underdash is 'painful' (almost but not quite as much as Don's having been 'personally violated' I might add).
I feel for you - I would be be absolutely pissed if this happened to me! When you get it fixed, get something else NEW for the car at the same time and you will feel much better!
Best regards mate,

PS. have you tried the latest in "Anti-Theft"? Its a specially designed gearshift that makes potential robbers believe there is a vicious Sharpei dog in your vehicle..I believe it comes in gray!

Rob,
I am very sorry to see the damage to your car.
Not only is it a disgrace that people steal, but it only makes matters worse that they go about it with such blatant disregard for other peoples' things. Why the Hell do they need to vandalise as well?
I suppose there is only one word for such people; Bastards!

Christer - it was unlocked because they broke the window and unlocked it...I guess it was too much to ask them to lock it afterwards.

Rob, i had exactly the same damage at the start of the year so I know how you feel. Hopefully your insurance company will cough up quickly and you'll have new electronics and newly repaired car soon.

Rob - I was wondering if you left the stereo faceplate on - and was it taken?
Having been broken into on numerous occassions in the past I've learned a few things. Don't leave anything of value or non value in the car - if you have to leave something put it in the trunk. Better to remove everything totally. Tinted windows are not good - if the theif can't see into the car he'll find a way - which means breaking the tinted window which is obstructing his view. I've gotten to the point where I'm thinking of leaving the car unlocked hoping they have some compassion and don't break anything!
