Lowering
In looking at 964's how can I tell if the ride height "lowering" has been done. Is there a measurement from the fender lip to the ground that will give and indication
I realise that the actual "job" needs to be done correctly and a re-alignment needs to be made. Any ideas what it will cost to do that?
Here in FL we don't need to worry about being too low.

I would like to know the cost myself!

Lauderdale is like Orlando. Isnt a street that isnt under construction! I have worried about ripping my splitters off on more then one occasion and i am at factory ride height! Still my old 911 was very low and i liked the being on a rail feeling :-)

Well, ground to fender lip measurements are pretty inaccurate, but.....
If the car was lowered to about Euro RS specs, you will get about 25 1/2" to the front fender lip, and 25" to the rear.
The more popular lowering springs (H&R or Eibach) will get you to about those numbers.
If the car has not been lowered, count on measuring maybe 1 1/2" to 2" higher.
I suppose you could also just look at the springs. The H&R's are green (not sure about the Eibachs). Also, if lowering springs have not been fitted, the car will normally be at standard ride height; dropping the spring perches does not usually get you any more than 1/4 to 1/2 inch (if you are lucky).

In the UK, cost of new Handling pack ranges from £1000 to say £1,500 for a Bilstein PSS9 adjustable kit. I had mine donw with an H&R kit, and it was approx 4 hours labour cost on top of the parts, inc Computer alignment afterwards.

I think you will be able to eyeball the difference in ride height with no problem. Just look at the pictures of the lowered cars here and on www.porsche964.co.uk.
As for cost, figure $400 - $500 for struts/ $300 for springs, 4 hours labor plus $300 alignment/corner balance.
A search will serve you well too!
Good luck!
