muffler bypass and daily driver

I did a search on bypassing the primary or secondary mufflers. No one mentioned the comfort level of a daily driver. I am considering the secondary bypass and want to know if I am going to deafen my wife and kids as we often take long trips in 911. I would like to hear the car bark a bit more when I get on it, but would want it mellow at highway speeds. Am I dreaming?

I already have the airbox drilled....

A quick and cheap way to simulate the sounds of a secondary by pass pipe is to disconnect the secondary muffler from the primary. The by-pass is just a G shaped pipe redirecting the exhaust to the rear.

I have the secondary bypass and it makes a nice sound thats not to loud. It is not offending at all, you should like it.

If you drive a cabrio, you'll go deaf with a secondary bypass... and probably a primary for that matter!! I tried the G-pipe (secondary bypass) and it's just too loud for a daily driver that's a cabrio...

You can always test what it will sound like - just remove your secondary muffler and go for a drive! It's pretty close to the actual result. And costs you nothing but time.

I have a secondary bypass, G pipe, as well. Sound is great but it is on the loud side. I am not sure that I would like it for a daily driver but for a weekend driver it is great. Girlfriend and mom don't complain but they know when I arrive.

Don't get me wrong... I still have the G-pipe waiting in the box for the day I get a 964 coupe.... just not for the cabrio...
