Hello all...I'm looking for the following:
C4 Coupe (no targa or cab)
Manual Trans (no tip)
No green color
records
around $20k (or less)
Basically I'm wanting to enjoy my 911 year round...right now I'm storing the 911SC from end Sept/Oct until June and driving a suburban...not enough PCAR time
PM me or e-mail me at k_schumac AT yahoo DOT com

Okay, I heard from Chris and his car is still for sale. I sent him your e-mail address, Schuey, and you can also send him a PM @ his Rennlist handle: jonesey.

Thanks guys...we'd all like to get more for our cars, but man have prices been dropping...IMO it's due to the 997 release...some seem to be keeping their value based upon what I've seen (especially the 87-89 G50 Carrerra and pre 74), but I've been seeing 89 C4's go for around $15-17k, and a few 95 993 C4's go for $25-27k...both with around 100k on them and in nice shape with records...I just posted a pelican's 94 964 C4 with 86k factory WIDEBODY for $22500 here...
FWIW, jonesey is looking for more $$ than I am willing to spend

So what are you finding out there, Schuey? If I had to guess, I'd say most of the sub $20K C4's need a little TLC and the pristine examples are priced above your target. Is that right?
I guess there might be a great deal just waiting for you around the corner but I think you should consider spending a little more to get a better car. These things are very expensive to fix. A new clutch and head seal work will run you $5K ... EASY!
Now if you consider a car like Jonesey's (I have no affiliation), you'll have a better idea of how the car has been maintained and which big expenses you can expect. This last issue can, of course, be factored into the purchase price.
My point is that spending a little more will sometimes get you A LOT more than just a nicer car. You'll minimize some of the risks associated with buying a used car and gain considerable peace of mind. I'm sure I'm not the only on this Board who paid a premium for a nicer car and feels it was money well spent.

I agree with alot of your points Joey; however, I'm satisfied that I'll find a nice example for my price range...I paid a premium for my 911SC and haven't looked back, however the price was realistic...
Take a look at eBay there's a nice '89 C4 in drk blue...they've done alot of work on it, but want $29,500 for it! Which is insane, a $18k car is worth $18k no matter how much work it needed...
I'm sticking to my budget, otherwise I would've purchased the 94 C4 factory widebody for $22,500...the '89 you posted the link for is nice, but maintenance records are an issue here, plus the cyl head issue hasn't been taken care of...this is a $5k job waiting to happen...

Shuey,
Send me a mail at "apw964@yahoo.com". I have a 1990 C4 for sale. It's black, in excellent condition, has 110k on the chasis, but only 35k on a complete engine rebuild. I have full receipts for work, and a full service record.
Drop me a note if you are still in the market, I can send you some pictures, and we can talk price
Andy

I think Jay makes a very good point, too, about variances in seasonal demand. It sounds like you have the patience to hold out for a great deal and with Fall approaching, things may start to come together. Best of luck in your search for the right car at the right price.

The car has 101k miles on chasis and top end redone for the $29,500...to bad b/c it's exactly what I'd like (drk blue on black) in color...and has records, but still, it's way overpriced...
