Bill,

Thanks for the input! So is there a way one can easily fit a C4 caliper to a C2?? Thanks a lot.

Peter are you going to change the bias valve as well when you install the correct calipers?

That's a good point to remind people of - when you go to the quad piston C4/92+ C2 calipers, you should also go to the 92+ C2 bias valve, which is a 55 bar valve vs the 45 bar pre-92 valve. The part number has been previously posted, and it's also in the March 2004 PCA article on 964 track preparation.

Yes, I will be changing the regulator at the same time. This is the part number I got off of the PET CD (930 355 305 01).

I am going to call the dismantlers to see if they have another set of matching rears. Where are you ordering the bias valve from? and might what it cost? Keep us posted when you do the conversion. I will be right behind you. I am going to be doing springs and might try to combine the job all at the same time since bleeding is required with the strut removal. Are you running stainless lines?

Pete,

I was told that they have 50 sets available, so you might want to go down there to pick out a pair in person (I should have). The bias valves are $59 from Pelican but I'm sure there are other sources that may be cheaper. I am running DOT approved SS lines and the feel is great (I do check them periodically). And I will most definitely post a follow up when it's all done. Hopefully I can provide you with the correct Brembo part numbers so you don't run into the same problem as I have.

After a week of communicating with LA Dismantler, I finally drove down there to pick-up my replacement calipers. And as expected they gave me yet another pair of fronts. Thank god I brought my dial caliper to measure the pistons and prove to them that they are in fact the wrong ones. Finally they decided to go to the yard and "yank" a pair off of a '93 RSA. But after hearing the description of that RSA, I immediately decided to rebuild the calipers. Rebuld kit for both caliper including a new regulator was $150 from Pelican. My total for calipers plus parts is $400. I will be rebuilding the calipers myself so I'll save on labor.

Here's a summary of part numbers (There are 2 different set of part numbers casted on the caliper. They are located on the opposite side of each other)

Left Rear Caliper (30mm/28mm) - Porsche # (928.352.421.02) = Brembo # (20 4673 00) and (20 4672 01)

Right Rear Caliper (30mm/28mm) - Porsche # (928.352.422.02) = Brembo # (same as left)

Regulator / Bias Valve - (930 355 305 01) but superceeded with (964 355 305 10)

Caliper rebuild kit - from Pelican.

I probably won't be tackling this project until I come back from my week long vacation in Cozumel. So I'll post a follow up or a progress report then. Thanks everyone for helping me!

Thanks for the great post. I am watching in the wings. I was thinking about going there my self to pick up a set. How much are the things new or rebuilt? Seems $400.00 is getting pricy. Did you check the numbers while you were there? Do you think they actually have another pair?

Pete, A pair of brand new calipers are $960 at Pelican. Their pricing has been fair so I did not bother to check others. I was offered a pair of used calipers for $450 a while back ago from a "parts wanted" classifieds ad. So I thought $250 for a pair was a good price. The decision to rebuild was to put my mine at ease. Visually, the components on the calipers were in fairly good condition and probably could last another 30k+ or so. But I know I would feel much safer knowing that the calipers are in good working condition.

While I was at LA Dismantler, I had no idea what the correct numbers were so I went by the piston sizes. As for the availability of calipers, I know for a fact that they still have a couple of calipers left.
