Scuttle seal
The seals between the scuttle and the front wings of my 1990 C2 cabrio are beginning to look a bit secondhand - the rubber is bubbling up (I suspect as a result of years of careless waxing by previous owners).
I have bought two new seals from Type 911 for a very reasonable £2 each - but does anyone know how easy they are to fit? By the looks of things, with each door open, two fixing bolts can be seen on each side which appear to hold the wing to the scuttle. Does anyone know if it is simply a case of slackening these fixings to fit the new seals, or is the operation rather more involved??!
Any help much appreciated.
Cheers,
Jeremy.

Whats a scuttle? (for the uneducated amongst us like myself)
Are these the small pieces between the front fenders and the bonnet/hood? I need to do mine if so (you too Surf twang!) as they are whitened and worn pretty bad!

You can get 'special' versions of the seal, that have slots instead of holes for the bolts to go through and aren't as deep.
You (apparently) can just back-off the bolts a bit to fit these, instead of removing them completely. Mind you, I seem to remember someone saying that you still had to break a small weld somewhere...

Three Wheelin'
Jason,
Enlighgten us please!! My seals need replacing since they were painted over when the car was resprayed. What does the service bulletin say in reference to the tack welds. I was led to believe that lossening the nuts was all that was necessary if you got the modified seals with the slots rather than holes.
More information please.
Best regards
Dave

The TSB doesn't apply to MY1993 so I never bothered getting a copy of it (its not in my "Service Information" booklet either) and I don't remember the specifics, sorry.
