Default Clear coat?

Does the paint on my car have a clear coat? I'm thinking not but I actually have no idea.

I think that Guards Red is the only colour that does not.

I kind of figured that because when I rubbed some imperial hand glaze into the paint, the rag came back tinted red

My Grand Prix White does not have any clearcoat. I am almost certain it is factory original.

I have definitely seen posts that have stated that the majority of Guards Red cars do not have clear coat but there are a few that do.

I may be full of it, but IIRC, all Porsches after 1995 are clearcoated and before that none were. So I think it's a production date thing. Hopefully someone can correct me or at least the year. I've had two Guard's Red p-cars before this black one and neither one of them was clearcoated AFAIK.

I had a '90 C4 which was black & then got my '91 C2. Both are clear coated.

Hi, My 1990 C4 Australian delivery Midnight Blue coupe has clear coat. About a month ago when it was in the offical Porsche body repair shop to have a Kangaroo scratch - yeah you read right - repaired the manager said the colour was the easy part - the hard part was getting the clear coat the same as the factory because it darkens a little with time. So, from all that I beleive mine was clear coated from new.
