Thumbs up Must have for thirsty souls

Although this product has been recommended before, I feel it deserves more praise.

Today I received Jef Morgans cup holder. It is besutifully made, fits right in with the style of the cabin and is fully up to Porsche standards of quality and feel.

Buy it now!

Now that is cool. Like all things Porsche related, probably twice as expensive as it should be, but very cool none the less.

When I take long trips, I usually have a small cooler with me, and I position it so that a drink can sit more or less where the cupholder goes without tipping. This makes that easy...no cooler required.

Out of curiosity, how does this attach w/o tools.

It slides over the seat rails and is hand tightened by turning a little wheel on the underside.

Rennlist recently did a group buy, but you can still buy from Ebay for around $65.

Jens, did you feel the ring was much wider in diam than you expected?

Personally I like the third party 2 cup holder that replaces the rear console storage holder( or CD holder). I was going to purchase one but apparently its only available covered in leather rather than the plain matt black plastic to match the other console pieces!

Alternatively you could attach a camelbak to the back of your seat using a sling over the headrest and have handsfree drinking while looking straight ahead like you should at 200 kph plus you get insulation to keep the drink cool longer....and you can double duty it for cycling and hiking......Drink safe, stay cool.

One of many designs

Howard,

I've seen the one you want. Don't have time to find a link, but try 'Prestige Parts' in the UK.

Howard,

Yes, the diameter of the ring was a bit bigger that I expected. It was a positive surprise because in this way you can fit most water bottles sold in Europe.

For instance, the bottle you see on the photo is too wide to fit in the cupholder on my Golf.

The day I put any sort of cup holder in my 964, I personally give you permission to shoot me.

Looks like nice though! Do they do it in Guards red?

Just out of curiosity, will this work with the B-K Fire Extinguisher Mount? I usually just tuck my water bottle between the extinguisher and seat.

Jens,
Thanks for the fine praise on my cup holder. I’m really glad you like it. I don’t get over to the 964 forum too often but it sounds like I’ll need to add a few options to the holder – like bondage straps and maybe a power source for personal electrocutions.

hey - I used to worry about drink spills on long trips. My usual solution was to take off my shoes (they were usually off anyway) and to put the drink in the shoe.
As for those who bash cupholders, I think they're a little too idealistic. Most people know that the body needs liquids on hot days and anyone is crazy to drive for more than two hours of spirited driving in the heat without drinking. Our cars are made for spirited driving, and long trips, so (to me) some accomodation for drinking is a no-brainer.
Anyway - back on-topic - I found a solution that works 90% of the time. The door pocket near the door speaker, just behind your left knee (for LHD) seems to accept most cups and cans. They seem to fit snuggly and I've never had a spill.
Try it!!
Happy Motoring!!
