Default Passenger side mirror tightening

Recently I replaced my flag mirrors with Aero's. The drivers side mirror was easy to tighten using a hexhead bit & ratchet, however the passenger side is so tight of an angle that I could not get the ratchet or bit to fit and ended up using an allen key (wrench). The allen key threatens to strip the nut iand only has very, very limited travel until it meets the mirror housing.

I would like to tighten up just a tad more but am wondering if anyone has used a flexible socket extender or some other means I havent considered for reaching that passenger side bolt?

Thanks,

Hi Howard,

I have a set of Allen keys that at are "rounded" at one end, so you can use them at an angle. Bought them at my local DIY store. Worked well when I had to tighten my mirrors.

I'm traveling this weekend, but I'll send you a photo of the keys when I get home.

Take care

Hi Howard,

As promised, here is a picture of the Allen key you can use at an angle. Let me know if you want a set and I'll pop down to the DYI store and get one for you.

Take care

Howard, I used the same allen keys as jenskleis to install the mirrors without problems. I bought them from Sears (Craftsman Tools).

Guys, I must be having a prolonged and premature senior moment...I have some rounded allen keys....not sure how this enables one to get at an angle to do the mirrors? Anyway I can get in with an allen, but allen keys always strip nuts I find and I'm leary to use on my mirror!. I have a nice array of universal joints for my socket set, which would be perfect however my hex bit is a tiny tiny bit to long when added the the u-joint to fit in the space. I am looking for a smaller hex bit (same 10mm) that is not too long when combined with the joint to get thsi really torqued! Its fairky tight with the allen I used for now!

I very much appreciate the offer to send tools..you guy's are too much!

Can't wait until you do your own valve adjustments.

I was expecting to have Howard's passenger-side mirror land in my lap as I followed him on our drive today but it appeared to stay firmly attached to his car. I led on the outbound leg in order to avoid such an occurance but ended up following on the return leg. Nerve wracking.
