They are around $27 from Pelican Parts or half that used off Ebay! Personally I'd buy the new...the little dtrut inside that holds the spring seems to break once the plastic gets brittle!

Where ever you end up buying from, buy an extra switch for the future.
Sunset Porsche in Oregon sells them for $18.16 each. Add 2.89 for handling and 6.25 for shipping, give or take. You end up paying what Pelican Parts sells them for, looks like.
If you have a laundry list of needed items then the shipping and handling charges are basically the same for a shoebox size of parts.

sunset is the best place to get this stuff in general (no tax and really $ competive)
I have some (somewhere) but it would take me eon's to dig them out and ship them, every 964 part is in the middle of being crated up to join the chassis in Va. + i'm heading out on vacation.
Buy a few of them (at least 1 spare in your car + a 993 DME relay of course)

at the risk of sounding EXTREMELY ignorant, what is a DME?

Jason,

The DME relay controls the fuel pump etc. It is common for them to fail. Without it, the engine will not run. Most people carry a spare in the event that it might fail. Only about $20.

Jason,

The one the 964 had was a 944 part & was later superseeded by the 993 part. They will both work, though I think most shops only sell the 993 part now!

the 993 unit superseeded the 96 part number and is the "reliable" one

i don't have the part number handy but any parts counter will have them in stock
