105K 1990 964 cab ... 22K opinons please

Hey guys

New poster here, about to return to real p-car ownership. I've almost completed a deal to sell my beck 550 spyder, and am replacing it with (potentially) with this car.

It has 105K, which I know isn't too scary - they have all records and all intervals were met, including heads and flywheel.

My question... how bad is 105K, and any gotcha's I should consider? I had a 77 911s that I put a c2 964 motor in, which had the odo die at 156K (which is when I bought it, who knows where it stopped). It was fine, hard to tell how old it really was.

The car is 22K, and I'll be looking at it tomorrow. I'll probably put no more than 4K a year on it.

Thanks for your input...

dma550:

$22k is about in the middle of the price range for early 964's. This car should be in very good condition for $22k since some recent posts indicate that $22k will buy a 964 with a few less miles, though cabs tend to bring just a bit more. If the car is very nice, it's probably worth it. I also seems cars with 100k on the clock tend to hover right aroud $20k or so...

You mention the records state work was done on the heads. What's been done to the motor? If it had the dreaded cylinder to head leak and had the proper fix done, that price looks better too...

IF the car has been well maintained and had the cylinder to head leak fixed to boot, 105k on the odo is no big deal.

Best of luck,

Jay

Thanks Jay :) I'm all aflutter... it was just today I convinced the wife to allow another car in the stable. When I see the records myself I'll have a better idea about the heads. Looks like they had the proper work done at around 40K miles.

Well, bought it today... what a nice runner. It's nothing special, as 964's go, but it's mine, and it's paid for ;) Sometimes, it's nice to have a "blank slate"

I'll be picking it up in a few days when the check clears, and I'll post some pics. Thanks for your advice, you were very helpful!

Hey DMA....congratulations on your purchase! You know the rule....gotta furnish pics ASAP, and let us know what you plan on doing first 4K a year is a great budget.

I just bought a 91 C2 Cab for my wife (lucky me!!!!). Paid 30K.
Car was in perfect shape with one owner 29,000 miles confirmed

So your 22K sounds like a pretty good deal.
