Default Spurious Ruf chips

I've recently had a bad experience with a "Ruf" chip seller on ebay.
Here's the link:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=2479576126

And here's the deal:
The ad says, "You are bidding on a Original Porsche RUF Motronic ( e.c.u. ) Power Chip... I have paid $ 800 ago 1 1/2 year`s but now i will sell my car." This was the second ad I'd seen for this same chip. I had already bid on it when I realized it was the exact same ad. I ended up winning (for $76!!!!) but I was confused as to why he would have bought two chips for one car. When I emailed him to ask him about it, he told me that he actually was now buying the chips from a "Porsche club member" and selling them on ebay. After hearing that I told him I was not going to take the chip. Anyway, I just wanted to let everybody know this was going down. I have no idea whether or not the chips are genuine, but if they are he must be getting a hell of a deal on Ruf chips to let them go for $76 on ebay. Just thought I'd warn everybody.

Dear Brian,
These are copies and not very good ones of the RUF chip. This subject only came up on this forum a week or so ago.
Nobody sells 800 dollar parts on ebay and accepts 76 bucks. I wish somebody would report this guy to ebay for selling counterfeit parts.
Ciao,
Adrian.

Chips can be duplicated for less than $5.00 each with any EPROM programmer
connected to a PC. As I've said, you never really know what you get when you
buy a performance chip. So, buyer be very aware!

Yes they can.....the chips are around $7.00 and you can have them programmed for $1 a piece. This guy is making a killing.

I am in the chip industry and I had asked this guy some questions.....which he refused to answer. So i thought this guy was full of sh&t. I have no idea how to report him...or I would.

However, Where can we get factory original chips? "RUF"?

Thanks,
Jeff
