Default CAD plating for new rotors?

I am going to be getting all new rotors and pads for my 90 C4. I was going to get cross drilled Zimmerman rotors until reading the recent posts on stock rotors...maybe I'll just get those...
But my question is: Is it worth $60 to have the new rotors CAD plated? I will be driving the car year round in some snow, so will it hold up, or am I wasting my money?

Also, I am planning on using Hawk HPS pads...any opinions?
I do not track the car, and do mostly in town driving.

If you want to run drilled rotors on the street, they should be fine. It's on the track that there can be issues. If you can find 'drilled' rotors that have the holes cast-in during the manufacturing process, instead of literally drilled, those will last longer. Porsche factory rotors have the holes cast-in. For street usage, the stock rotors, as well as OEM, also work fine. With OEM's you would want to paint the hub, as has been discussed recently.

Is that $60 each for CAD plating?

The $60 is for all four ($15 each). I just want to know if the CAD plating will hold up or if paint is just as good. I would like to get the cross drilled just for looks alone, but don't want to deal with cracking...
Has anyone else run the cross drilled rotors on their street use only car?

i have little problem w/ rotors that have been designed and manufactured w/ drilling in mind. The '78-89 930 rotors, '95-98 993 and 993tt rotors come to mind. I do have aproblem w/ solid rotors that are drilled as an afterthought, they will be a problem, sooner rather than later.

Slotting is a nice alternative for the lattter subset of rotors.

I had my last set of Audi rotors cad plated. They never showed any rust and overall I very was pleased w/ them. Probably not the best idea for track use as the pads are designed for uncoated Fe rotors.
