Slate Gray Metallic in 1990?

The historians say not available. So why do I own one? can someone explain this please. Slate Gray Metallic was available in 1989 and 1991 as a special color but not 1990. So why is my 1990 Slate Gray Mettalic. Their must be an easy explanation for this |

I think the earlier color was stone grey metallic. I have seen it right beside my slate grey car and stone is a bit lighter.

…and the original color should be on your sticker (23F), or at least as ‚custom color‘.

P.S.. According to this, slate grey ("schiefer metallic") was available from 1990-1992 and switch to water-based in 1990.

I had a '90 Schiefer. Perfect road trip car, looked awesome color dirty or clean.

The factory docs I have say 22D base clear solvent was offered in 90,91 & 92 and 23F Base clear waterborne offered in 91 & 92.
