Default For Kahdmus - handbrake wobble revisited!

Howard,

Over the weekend I met up with Robmug.

Rob sat in my car and we were discussing your gearknob renovation. Naturally enough, my thoughts turned to the handbrake...

'What do you think of the side to side play in my handbrake?' I asked Rob.

'Something wrong there', he announced, 'you must be missing a bush!' (I hope Phil isn't reading this! ).

Rob refused to accept that there IS no bush and that nothing was missing - definitely too much play!

So off we go to Rob's car and....

Yes, you're ahead of me!

Maybe it really is all in the mind, after all!

Thanks John - makes me sound like a true expert!

Mine still doesn't wobble as much as yours...

I'm a bush short at the moment too

Whilst more bush can never be argued as being a bad thing it is certainly not the answer in this case!

...I am taking so much bleeding stick over my gearshift renovation that I am going to order a pre-assembled, non-shar pei resembling version!!

In the meantime I keep telling myself that my lever is feeling stiff and firm ...my esteem is definately building!!

Kadhmus - try steaming the leather to get it to a tighter fit. This is how professional trimmers do it. It allows the leather to soften and stretch, and it also tightens further as it dries.

No, Howard, you should leave it just as it is. It's a powerful thing. It nearly had Rob and I in tears on Saturday - thousands of miles away its influence is felt!

Edit: On the other hand, Rob's idea sounds good. There could be even more fun if you do that. You just make sure you post all the pictures!

I refuse to field further entertainment for your amusement and am determined keep my poor gearshift sheltered from further embarrassment and humiliation going forward...

What about humiliation in reverse?

Only on the 964 board is such a healthy sense of humour to be found. Elsewhere, one of us would now be trying to remove the item from our anatomy.

I wasn't aware you could have that much play in reverse. Joe W.
