From what I've heard, Porsche never authorized anything more than a 17" rim for the non turbo 964... I know plenty of people who have 964s with 18s and have had no problems, so it's really up to you...
19s may be pushing it... Even for street use... Again not sure... You have several school of thoughts here at rennlist... So expect many to say NO to 19s...

If you are not really driving the car then it should be OK as long as you can make them fit - be careful of offsets, widths and the use of spacers over 6-7mm is not recommended with standard studs (get longer ones). Also remember that tyres become more expensive and in a smaller range. Have you looked at 225/30's? Which tyre sizes will you use?

Christer,

I am thinking 215 35 19's for the fronts and the rears 255 30 19's. I was hoping to go wider on the rears like 265...not sure how snug it would be.

I thought 225's might rub on the front.

Ps. Good info on the studs etc...I have not thought about it. I am so glad we have people here from all aspects. Its nice to have ideas and opinions....so we don't make too many mistakes.

I am sure we have all made plenty already so why repeat them all again. As I say, if you get the tyres then why not?

Incidentally, I am going to try to go to 18" myself as I have somve very light wheels on order. They are 8.5 and 10 inch front and rear and I am going to 225/40 and 265/35 on mine. I might have to 'play' though tomake them fit (move oil line/rolled fenders maybe?) I'll let you know if know before you do if you see what I mean. You have a C4 though so the front will be alittle tighter. What are the widths of the actual wheels?

Christer,

I believe 8.5's and 9.5's. I am wanting to go with 10's for the rears. Wide as possible without moving anything. I think 9.5's would do it.

Ps. I know everyone talks about rolling their fenders. What exactly does this mean? Taking out the plastic fender well?

As I understand it (and I have not had this done before), you use a machine (and in the old days something like a baseball bat with force applied perhaps would do) which pushes the inner lip of the fender in which normally makes a 'u-shape' - so the whole thing is flatter if you see what I mean. From a wide(er) U to a much narrower U....

This might be the worst explanation ever, but that is the basic principle. It just makes a little more room for a wider tyre where necessary. I am going to try to avoid doing it if I can.

Oh yeah, and what are the offsets on the wheels you are considering?

Christer, which wheels are you planning on using? How light are they? Joe W.
