*%$* bonnet badge. Anyone prised it off from the top?
My badge has been buckled/missing enamel ever since I got the car. I have had a replacement about as long, sitting on a shelf.
There have been threads about this before - but I still can't seem to get the back nuts off the little ******. Access holes wayyy too small.
I'm tempted to put something protective on the bonnet and lever it up. Can anyone help before I do something I'm going to regret?

I also had an "issue" with my badge, I removed it by pushing up in the little studs hoding the "speed" nuts until I could ge a zip tie under the badge and then just held pressure on the badge while I undid the nuts.

Thanks Y.
OK - so what did you use to undo the speed nuts? I can't see how pressure on the badge helps..
Maybe if I can get a tie underneath it, I could pull it up and the speed (hah!) nuts will drop off the back..?

I posted a similiar question about 2 or 3 weeks ago...my replacement is still sitting on the shelf too Johnny!!!!! I think Youcef is saying that you can PUSH the badge up by putting the pressure on the badge studs from below and pulling on it at the same time.
DONT GO THE SCREWDRIVER ROUTE!!!! I get tempted to do these rash things from time to time...but you have to remind yourself that its just not worth the risk and keep looking for another answer!

Got a PM from a feller (Thanks!) suggesting one of those mini sockets on the end of a screwdriver that your Dad buys you for for christmas..but even that was too big for my access holes. Maybe I have congenitally small holes.. :-(.
I suspect there is a special Porsche tool..

Ok 8mm extension brought it right off! Now...does anyone have any recommendation for sore fingers? (getting that gasket to stay lined up was a bear!!!)
Anyone placed one of the new 'silver' style hood emblems on their 964? I think this would give a very understated look to my dark blue C4!
Cheers,

PS. BTW, what did those who replaced their badge do with the old one? Any creative ideas?

I also used the mini sockets with cheap plastic handled driver that snaps when you get tough with it!! It will only loosen the speed nuts though, then you need to get inventive and thats where I used the zip tie.

(I give it a week before it's half-inched..)
Alternatively I was thinking about doing a 'Gulf' orange and sky-blue paint job on my lawnmower..
You all make it sound so easy. Can't wait to get home tomorrow after a long weekend at work now! Although, if a regular 8mm socket goes anywhere near getting through those access holes, I'll be a monkey's uncle. Now..wheres my angle grinder..
The gasket is the next challenge - I thought the old one might be useable, and pre-stretched?

The gasket is a real bugger.
It took about 10 minutes of swearing just to go about the task of properly positioning the blasted thing, followed by 10 minutes of actually working my fingers as fast as I could to hold the various edges in place while stretching the rest of it to fit.
There's probably an easier way, but I don't know what it might be.
As soon as it was correctly positioned I put those 8mm nuts on as fast as I could.
