Udo, you don't miss a beat! I am trying to keep people in suspense!

You asked and here it is. I used many front openings for inspiration and eventually just designed my own. My son and I used his CAD to come up with something that worked with the position of the cooling system and maintained the lines of the bonnet and lights. Its a bit hard to appreciate the actual shape because you are only seeing it in 2D in the picture but the contours in 3D on the bumper look quite good to my eyes. The inlets will be fitted with the same black mesh as the rear deck lid cutout

they are actually a lot more curved on the lower outer side than the pictures capture

Thanks Greg.

Yes I have. I believe this is the single most difficult decision I had to make on the car. It is a custom color. I wanted something that paid tribute to the flat colors and pastels of the earlier cars, but still have the modernity to look at home today. It will be a color that looks different in different lights. It took a number of combos to get the one I like. The composition is below in the card. In a few weeks you and I will see the thing for real.. Fingers crossed, but I like what I saw from the samples.

I love non-metallic colors and pastels. That's why I am going Miami Blue on my 964 and 60's VW Turquoise (like a pastel) on my BMW e30.

Kindred spirits. I looked at the 60’s VW catalogue extensively. The colour will contain elements of the turquoise. I love Miami blue - that was a runner up. Looking forward to seeing your e30 in turquoise. That will be stellar!

I'm don't miss a beat because I'm drooling and waiting for every post update.
Love how you got your son involved, it's going to make those drives and future garage time so meaningful.
2D/3D, we can tell it looks well thought out and spot on.

This is the exact color the e30 will be. I actually already painted the engine bay when I had the engine out to do a V8 swap.

Can't wait to see the color you choose!

Oh no...you guys are right on top of your game. That is dangerously close to what mine is going to be.

They did a lot in the last two weeks and I am just getting some pictures sorted out to post. They are hoping to get to paint in about 2 weeks. And it is a 5 step paint process so that also takes a week. At this point after waiting for 6 months, I am getting quite anxious to see the color. I will try to get to posting later today.

In the meantime I have been following up on some initial consultations with regards to engine refresh and upgrade. Anthony has been very helpful along these lines. I have been talking to the boys in Oregon and Patrick Motorsports in phoenix. Its not cheap, depending on what you want, but so far leaning towards a mild hot cam version of a 3.8. Unless I go full out like 964.4L on the other thread and have Rothsport build a super rocket. Probably not, since that would be the cost of another 964 and then some. I will restrain myself and stay on course with my street car build. I want to drive the car at least until late fall and then maybe hand it over to be rebuilt. I wish I had the time and the skill like some other chaps here to start and engine build myself - retirement goals in the years ahead maybe. Cheers.

This is for those individuals that are seduced by details and metal work, fabrication and the like. This is my final design of the deck lid venting and the obsessed guy putting it all together at CoachWerks. Enjoy!

Picture heavy!

Paint stripping the old fashioned way - sanding every surface.
