Historical Lic Plates
Anyone have any experience in CA what the pros and cons are? I don't run a plate on the front of mine and wonder if this is allowed on a historical. Tired of dodging the boys in blue.

I got one on my 964, i was lucky to score the car with the plate already, so the transfer of plates was easy.
AAA told me no mileage cap, drive the car to shows/parades/events. I want to know how the smog thing works.

I was under the impression that it doesn’t really offer any benefits to go historic, are there any?

As far as front plates, I don’t run them on any of my cars and have never had an issue with the cops. But, you will get a parking ticket for it. I carry the front plate under the drivers seat and put it on the dash when parking on public streets...they can’t pop you for that.

I put a CA historical plate on my '93 (just turned 25).
The primary benefit is annual registration renewal is like $90. You're only supposed to drive it to car shows and events, but the reality is, that's not enforced. I applied for it just for fun, to see if it would work, and it did.

You are correct. Other than the looks of having it, there are no tangible benefits from what I understand.
