The wear on the chain guides maybe from improper oil and lack of warm up before driving? It came from an old lady who owned it and serviced it regularly at a local gas station.. They were not knowledgeable about Porsche and told me they picked up and delivered the car for service. I can only imagine what happens during those trips.
What is a good height for these green H&Rs? Will do a bit of research. I want a good drive around town, date night comfortable car and not too low where its going to scrape.

Yeah. Winter came along and I said no rush.

You know those words are the kiss of death in this industry. I always tell everyone to never say them. If you let a shop know that your not in a rush they will put it on the back burner.
I run a much stiffer spring and modified dampening at RS+10 I had greens back in 2005 and found the car to be sloppy. The reds IMO are a better option although the dampening doesn't change they seem to work better with the HD's. I am going all out with MCS 2 way but the cost is prohibitive for most. I might drop down to RS+5 but will be running a far stiffer shock and spring so height is less of an issue with scraping due to the stiffness but still a concern in the Tri state area. I haven't had a 911 on a date night in 30 years. Been married a long time and the wife gets it so make it handle and she is happy. Otherwise the macan is what we take to dinners out. We need to get a crew together for spring drives. Now that Ilko and Bob are gone.

I have an understanding with the shop. I get really good rates and he needs to take care of customers with only one car in their fleet and need it to get to work.
Reality is that this car may have rubber bushings and other bits at 30 years old to not perform like when its new. It is not what I have in mind this car is for and not looking to extract every hp out of it. I wanted a softer ride and H&R greens.
We should all get together for a drive this summer. Did not realize Bob moved away! My 993TT is setup for light DE track work and Sunday drives. Its the go to car for that. 964 does not cut it anymore unless I lose 400lbs out of the car for it to feel fun in comparison.

Nothing like HP no doubt. But a well set up 964 can be as much fun as any of the air cooled turbos. More of a driver's car needing to keep the revs up and working hard to keep up with the modern stuff but is not a slow car by any means. You should drive my C2 I think you will think differently although your wallet might not like it. LOL

Cobalt what would you recommend running Bilstein's+ hr red springs at?
I'm currently at RS+10 (I believe) would like to lower down to RS+5 or maybe RS? Is that crazy?

Unfortunately, I lose the faster than 95% of all cars on the road which is something I am not willing to give up. I want to be able to call on power at will and still enjoy the classic air cooled Porsche feel.

Three Wheelin'
RS+10mm is okay on the Bilsteins, below that means tapping the bump stops more often. Rebound on the Bilsteins is stronger than necessary and makes for a rougher ride. I would check out the Koni fsd at that price point.
Chain guide looks pretty similar to mine at 85k miles. There is a lot of meat on them though, so seeing grooves isn't such a big deal. Still good to replace while they're accessible!

The used green H&Rs were a good price and local.

Apologies for my ignorance. When you say RS +10. Is that +10 higher or lower than RS height?
