Sorting the car out.

1. Frunk struts were shot. Easy fix only if you take extra 10 seconds to tie the clip with dental floss. One got away from me and it took me an hour to find and fish the darn thing out.

2. Air filter and Oil change - much easier than 993s without having to take apart the heat exchanger. Had to beat up the Purlator filter as it does not fit the oil filter wrench well. Too small. End up using a faucet removal tool to get it out. Guess I could have poked a hole and get better leverage.

3. Replaced rotor cap and rotors. These were probably original to the car and they were fried.

4. Wanted to put 17" on so replaced steering rack bushings and fought hydraulic lines to get a piece of metal in there. Found a ripped steering boot? Will have to replace that..

Looks like you reused the original bolts on the rack brace? You need to use longer bolts- did i see that wrong?

2 bolts were originals and two on the rack brace are new. Here is another look at the fresh shiny new bolt.

Pulled a total amateur move while tightening down and did not seat hex in the bolt completely partially stripping it. Hammered it to flush and removed that bolt. Replaced with a fresh one. They are soft..

You didn't use a bolt from the hardware store did yu?

I've got tons of the oem bolts for the inside, just an fyi....but it you had an issue w the longer bolts that came w the rack- if you replace those, make sure you use a good hard bolt, so later if the rack needs to come out, you can get it out. You don't want to deal w a stripped allen head there.

All good. The stripped one was OEM so I had extra. Further away and being lazy as I was tightening up..

This is correct and I’ll also add that to replace the line the drivers side exhaust has to come off. Make sure it’s done by someone with experience, you really don’t want to break off a head stud.

I have a little leak there too... seems to drip from the line at its lowest point... Just a spot or two. Good to know that's what it is.

I think classic plates are available to cars over 20 years old so it applies to both my 3TT and 964? But aren't they, as I understand it, a vanity plate?

How much taxes do you save?
