Tail Light Options
Looking at a 964. Have owned many over the last decade but none since prices wen't insane. Found a car that needs some work. I can gather up many of the parts but I am not sure where to look for a set of rear lights. One is cracked the other two sections are sun faded and have sun stress spyder webs.
Any sources for these parts out there?
Thanks

New or used?

You can find the outer lenses on ebay and do some manual labor to swap them onto the original housings to save some money. Nothing like that for the center yet.
Unfortunately you're probably better off buying a new set rather than trying to find a used set in any sort of usable condition.

Guys, i've been dealing with these 964 tail light options for a while, if you're lucky you can find a good used set which will cost you around $500-$600 or you just buy the suncoast or sunset ones for $1000 thats what i've had to do lately. There is an ebay seller rite now that has them for $989 i just bought a set from him, haven't arrived yet but he says they are OEM Porsche

Just a quick note. The red plastic on the new ones is completely different. And should last much longer.
If you buy a good set of old ones, you will be buying a new set of old ones soon enough.
So unless yours are falling off your car....save up another couple months for new.
I've swapped my old ones out three times as I've found free used ones that were a little better. But when i stop putting time and money into other people's cars, and actually get a chance to get to my own, I'll be buying new

I'm learning i bought the America Roadster on BaT i Jumped on replacing my tail lights and just ordered them from Pelican They also sold me all the gaskets turns out the housings come with the electrical harnesses and necessary gaskets Left and right don't even use gaskets after 91 I have a bunch of gaskets to return and now learn other sources were cheaper. I have the left and right housings and Harness from the 25000 mile car they are not faded much if at all. The right side has a longitudinal crack but is a good five footer If they add value I could ship.

i bought new from Pelican Part numbers are same but originals have dates labeled from manufacture. New parts are great, but I now believe sunset and others are 20% less than at Pelican

If you are willing to wait, Sunset has a Cyber Monday sale which is 20% off their already lower prices.

All of the old ones sold through a few years back...as far as i know. So around 2012 Porsche went out of stock for a year or so, and when they became available again, they did a new production run, and my understanding is they used a better red plastic that shouldn't fade as easily- because the old ones went pink and brittle very quickly...as we know.
So if you call Sunset and make an order today, you can only get the new ones.
So like i said above, for me, if i had to spend the money, I'd be buying new. If you need to flip a car and need to keep cost down, finding a better "crappy old set" is a good option. For example, on the cab in my garage, the owner didn't want to spend for a whole new set, and his center reflector was delaminating and cracked...so i pulled out an old crappy one, and swapped it out. So now he has two pink side lenses, and a pink center reflector, and it looks fine. But not gross.
