Bonnet/hood crest badge
I recently got a new hood badge to replace my bent and faded one. It looks like it should be a simple install. Has anyone any learned experience to offer in doing this minor upgrade? Sounds like a silly one I know, but nearly every time I read advice on Rennlist after the fact, I find myself saying something like "ahhh...so thats the trick!" or "I wish I had known that!"
Thanks,

Pulling the old one off can be a hassle, getting those speed nuts off doesn't always go well.
Once you unbolt your old badge, it should come off nicely.
I hope you bought a new gasket/base as well?? ...and a pair of speednuts too?
Just put the NEW gasket on your new badge by somewhat stretching it around the edges and bolt it up. Place even pressure on the topside of the badge while you thread your NEW speednuts on with a 1/4" ratchet (10mm socket??).
Good luck, you should be nice and proud of your new shiney badge when finished.

Hi Jeff,
Thanks for the advice! Yep, I got the speednuts and the gasket - it all comes together under the one part #. That gasket looks like its going to be a bugger to stretch and stay on!
Whats the best way to get the old nuts off - loos like they might pry off with a screwdriver?
Cheers,

If you want it to look prestine forever, bring the new badge to a paint shop and have them spray a coat or two of clear coat. easier to wax without residue and will not fade
