Orientation for power steering cam shaft seal?

Default Orientation for power steering cam shaft seal?

I replaced the o-ring (#5) and shaft sealing ring (#6) on the power steering pump bracket (the big aluminum housing that covers the belt and pulleys). I looked at PET and oriented the shaft seal (part #6 below) such that the flat part faces out (kind of like the rear main seal).

I found the picture below on pelican parts and I installed my seal the opposite of this. Is the seal inserted properly in the picture below or is it backwards? I'm hoping this picture is backwards...

Pelican is wrong, the seal is not even pushed in.
