Taormina Racing 3.6 Case

Ok I ordered a Taormina 3.6 case...... Now what? LOL. Adam at Taormina has been awesome and answers all my questions patiently but I'm pretty sure he knows by now I'm clueless about building Porsche engines. I just thought what he was doing was super cool and wanted to be apart of it so now I have opened that can of worms and would love some professional input other than sell it and run.

So here is what I want. A Singerish car that I can "caynon carve" in although in Texas we just go fast out in the country. I'm starting backwards. I'm building the engine and trans first and will figure out the car later except it will be a 964. So lets start with the engine. It needs to be powerful but reliable and its hot as hell in Texas in July so able to keep itself cool. Here is what I have.

Taormina 3.6 case with the bigger oil hole things and needs a GT3 oil pump (but dont have a pump.
997 GT3RS Crank and set of GT3RS titanium piston rods
Porsche Magnesium chain boxes

I need everything else including a builder within 3 hours drive or so from Houston. So any input would be awesome and I thank you in advance for your thoughts.

Wow - sounds like an awesome build! What are the plans for the 964 *when you find it*?

I’d ship it to Marco at TLG in Los Angeles and tell him what you want. That way you know it’d be done “right” and last forever.

There are lots of engine builder options. Rothsport is probably the most famous for 964 engine builds, and does the whole deal including induction and management. Several others too, Mirage here in SoCal, BBI does 964/993 builds, Orbit racing built mine. It's not hard to ship a motor on a pallet. But you'll want to find a builder that will build the whole thing and advise on the right components, not just piece it together.

Sounds fun, and expensive :-)

I bought a case from Adam as well. I just purchased a 90 c4 2 weeks ago and I have a shop starting on the body backdate. I will probably do interior myself.

I will be doing the same exact thing with my engine (after I save some $$). I plan to build a 3.8.

I am going to certainly follow your thread and see what you come up with.

I am super excited.

Glad to see a few other ppl buy the Taormina case. I am #3 on the list for the case and I own a 1993 C4.

I'm #19 on the list. 1993 RS America. Going the 3.8 route for a completely new motor so I can palletize the original. Whatever gets built will have to pass CA smog inspection etc.

Ship it to the Falasca brothers in Rome, Italy and they will make you a bomb of an engine.

or Mr. William Knight in the US.

Thinking of getting a case. How would you go about "mothballing" the original engine in such a way as to preserve it? Would you have to take it completely apart and clean everything and basically store the parts?

@texasporschelover. Contact William Knight. He is the man

Hello all,
So I am getting my case produced either next month or early January. Is anybody also getting their case soon? Just wondering what others are doing with their case.
