Default Value of sports seats

I've been trying to do some research but these are all over the place. Wondering how much I should go in to buy dilapidated seats and have them recovered or spend the money on some in amazing condition. Let's assume the motors work and the leather/vinyl is in great shape.
What are these worth?

I had full leather sports seats in my Turbo 3.6. They were exquisite. The smell of the leather, its quality, the fit and the colour were all perfect.

I had a pair of normal seats recovered in leather and while the outcome was very good, it was clear they weren’t original covers. I would rather pay up for some unicorn condition seats than recover.

So what would you pay for those exquisite seats you had in your turbo? I redid my interior to black and I hate the seats I put in there. The car is so close to being perfect, it just needs sports seats.
I have a lead on a set but they do seem to be perfect and the price is fairly substantial. I just have no way to gauge if it's a decent deal or not.

What's the price on the set yu are looking at?

I have a friend selling a set that need to be refurbed for 2k. 2500 or so gets you new upholstery , but that could be done cheaper.

So - I've seen prices this year from 1.5-2.5k , always needing work. Which should make a good set worth 3.5-4k...but it would be hard for me to believe they would trade for that high a price unless they were something special.

But then, my oem cup one cost me 500 dollars...and my head is still stuck in the days of yore...

The last two original sets of sport seats I saw on Pelican went for $3-3.5K.

Thank you guys! The offer I got was $3200 shipped and they look great to me. Motors good and come with rails. Just a tiny bit of patina to tell me they're original upholstery.
I'm seeing ones where the covers are disasters for under $1000.... looks like about $800 for a kit and my guy wants about $800 to do the work.

Considering getting a great set for my GR with black interior (90k miles, probably more of my driver) and some beat up ones to recover for my Slate Gray with burgundy interior (lower miles).

So after $3200 you’re paying $1600 for recovering? For an all in price $4800?

$3200 for good seats that need nothing. Just considering all my options.
But I need two sets... looks like recover kit is around 800 and labor is around 800...

I personally have only ever seen one set that were recovered that didn't scream Tijuana. Wrinkles, crooked seams inserts not parallel. The set done right were by a Gullwing resto shop; those guys are pretty meticulous and charge accordingly. I would like a set in Cobalt Blue but am not willing to recover, I would only ever buy a nice oem set ( so that probably isn't going to happen). Really nice ones in Black go to $3,500, occasionally I see a set that need some moisturizing TLC for $2200-$2500. The oem hides are excellent and come back to near perfect with the proper care, if you are looking for a 2nd set that isn't perfect now, that could be an option.

The company selling off all the parts from cars headed to Singer might be an option too, Singer tosses the factory seats: http://www.autobahnparts.com/carmodels/porsche

BTW did anyone see the early set of SS for $14,000? How first world is that?

Further to my thoughts above. All leather is not created equal. 1990s Porsche leather has a different smell (tanning process?) and feel. The kits don't appear to have the same quality. A kit is designed to fit OE dimensions. Your old seats will have compressed foam, so they will need either new foam or some foam fillets to fit correctly. It's easy to get the density wrong so they are too hard or too soft. Many recovers end up with wavy piping.

In short, if I had $3,200 to spend on original sports seats that needed nothing, then I'd do it that way long before recovering a cheaper set.

Southbound sell seat covers in a wide range of OE materials if you do need to recover. https://www.southboundtrimmers.com/products/seats.htm

No affiliation.

Where are you finding $800 for a kit?
