Although I do agree with Tarek, drive that 964! Having said that, about three weeks ago I started searching for a 2004-2006 Mini Cooper S Coupe Manual.
My wife had one of those new. When the engine was fresh it was a riot. The FWD is extremely apparent. You feel like you're violently pulling the car from place to place. Massive torque steer, but it's actually fun to wrestle with. The suspension is too firm but that can be fixed. I miss it, should never have sold it.
I had an opportunity to buy a one-owner, all records, full Dinan, low mileage 99 M3 from a good friend a few years back. Had same DS2 rims as yours. Took to Bullet Motorsports in Costa Mesa and changed up the look... lower, change rims, Rouge short shifter, x-brace, 28 mm Turner sway bars.
Car handled like it was on rails, revved like an early 911 2.2 all the way to redline and kept up with any Porsche in the canyons. Incredible car, with cold ac, and tons of storage space, compared to a 911.
Was my daily driver and "don't put the junk miles on the 964 car". After a few years I had a chance to acquire a 996 TT for a daily and sold it. Found out I'm a Porsche only guy.
That said, its hard to find any good Porsche these days for sub 25k, so a E36 or E46 M3 is a great daily driver choice in that price range.

Mine was sub sub. I got lucky and it was just before the BaT hype. I was into mine with upgrades, rims and tires for 14. Kind of like the good old days when you could find an SC for same money.

I had an M3 and loved that car. As mentioned still one of the best handling. Recently picked up an E39 M5 and must say it's pretty solid. Looks great has plenty of power doesn't handle like an M3 but sounds better. Gas mileage same as a Turbo. Starting to increase in value, but can be had for less than $20k it's easy to fit 4 people.
My '91 Turbo gets driven - mostly fun miles as putt-putting to work downtown is not the way I want to put miles on it - less than ideal parking situation and plus it's just boring.
Daily driver has been a heavily modified Audi B5 S4 - which has been awesome in every way....except upkeep..which has been, hmm...um...Ferrari-like.
So I picked up a '16 Audi Allroad. Great car. Boring to drive.
Here in Denver, CO I need 3 things: all wheel drive, forced induction (ok this is a strong preference), and be able to reasonably easily put a mountain bike in the car.
The new cars do things well but you are an occupant. I prefer man and machine. I think 90's cars might be the pinnacle of the auto - enough tech to do really cool stuff - but still be fun and involving to drive. That said I'm talking reasonably priced cars. Cars like a GT3RS are outside the scope of this statement...that said - even car magazines are writing that today's super cars are unbelievably capable...but boring.
E36 or E43 would be great DD. But horrible in snow.
964 C4 would be awesome but pricing getting too high and too hard to put a bike inside.
E46 330Xi maybe....not turbo but maybe a sweet six would suffice....

+1 on the B5S4. Use a nogaro stage 3 avant as my daily. Split my time between SoCal and Vancouver so the 4 wheel drive big plus during winter. Initial investment in all the RS4 goodies was $, but maintenance has been very reasonable, 7 years of ownership, and now at 180k. I also have - and do not daily drive - a Urq 20VT, and of course a 964, so I like your style!

Love the color on that. The guy I bought my RS4 from had a silver one and I was drooling - it looked practically new. Are people really buying these for DDs now?

Nice - what year UrQ? Mine was a Tornado Red '84. Did a 3B swap way back in like '03 with lots of RR parts, A/C, cruise - helped Apikol design their intercooler for 20V conversions - had that car for 14 years - loved it til the day I sold but it was time to move on. No regrets buying the 964T.
My B5S4 will probably be reliable now that I've replaced every major mechanical component (engine, turbos, trans, heater core....) in the last couple years but whenever I drive it I wonder what's next?
B7 RS4 would be a sweet DD. Have always preferred turbos but again - maybe a sweet V8 would work....
I have the Mars Red 2Bennett Sport Quattro replica. Cracked a head last year at Pahrump, so it's been sitting awhile while we source a new head, few new Iroz parts, and an S1 style rear wing. If/next time you're ever in SoCal hit me up and I'll let you take it for a spin.
