Wide Body wheel size question

So I have a '94 Factory Wide Body. I have sourced and will be fitting narrow body trailing arms to the rear. I would like to order wheels soon and want to double and triple check size and fitment. After searching though old threads here the following is what I'm heading toward.

FRONT
18 x 8.5 ET58 225/40/18 tire

REAR
18 x 11 ET8 295/30/18 tire

I'm OK with being a bit conservative and using spacer if needed to flush out the wheel/tire face to the body. Any comments, thoughts, concerns would be greatly appreciated! What do they say 'measure twice, cut once'?

Hi Tom,

The widebody 964 C4 runs normally

255/40 x 17. Tire O.D= 635.8 mm
205/50 x 17 Tire O.D= 636.8 mm

your tire size=

295/30 x18. Tire O.D= 634.2
225/40 x18 Tire O.D= 637.2

if you compare both, you notice that you are almost at the same OD means you should have no issue with the AWD system

i have on mine the rs 3.8 tire size

285/35 x18. Tire O.D= 656.7
235/40 x18 Tire O.D= 645.2

which means that i have a bigger delta ( about 2%) which should be still ok for the awd system but i am planing to disconnect the awd soon

For the rims, i am running the rs size:

9JX18 ET 48
11JX18 ET 5

i hope this helps you

cheers

Luc

I run 235/40 on 8.5J front and 295/30 on a 11.5J rear - 295/30 on the rear doesn't have enough sidewall imo - depends on what look you're going for.

I am getting ready to order 18x9.5 et48 and and 18x12 et10. I will let you know how that goes.

I just received an email from Jim Dorociak. He's advising against a 9" for the front (especially for a 225/40 tire) and suggesting this setup:

Front 8.5x18 ET53
Rear 11x18 ET5

I also choose 8.5" instead of 9 because 225 is bit too stretched looks for 9" (to my eyes).

Rear seems to be a same what original RS 3.8 has so that's pretty much right. And even that you can used ~10mm spacer if you want to.

Tom, I am thinking of buying a 94 wide body. What do you think the values are at now? Sorry I’m not answering the question you asked. Thank you.
