Dropping a 964 motor with a BendPak hd-9 help

I am thinking of purchasing but wanna know if it's possible to drop the motor/tranny with this particular 4 post.

The hd9 has 2 rail position. At its widest it's 44 3/8.

I'm wondering if 44 inches will allow enough width to get this motor out.

Any help would be appreciated. By someone who has done it or someone who knows the widest width dimension of the 964 motor.

Should work.... the 964's lift points are in front of the rear wheel, so as long as the arms are not protruding under the car, the engine can be dropped.

The entire engine is behind the rear wheels.

Using my scissors lift

With that scissor did it get in the way of the tranny at all?

I dropped my 993 engine and trans on an Atlas 6000 scissor lift. There was just enough room for the trans to clear.

So no one else has experience with a 4 post lift and dropping an engine?

^^^ There is a thread on Pelican about 4-post lifts and dropping an engine where several folks have been successful, including with the one you mentioned. I remember coming across it when I was looking for a lift and I was debating on which kind, 4-post, Maxjax, or midrise. I ultimately decided on the Bendpak MD-6XP midrise lift and I couldn’t be happier.

Thank you very much!!!! I think I'm gonna go that route!!!

I cut out the rear crossbar! I have no concerns about structural integrity. I have lifted my X5 with it for routine maintenance.

You could have simply turned the lift around to clear without cutting the crossbar. ;)

My Scissor lift doesn't have a cross bar at the back. I dropped my C4 engine and transmission by myself with it. I don't think I could do the same with the other orientation as the hydraulic rams would foul on the transmission.

Mine is a Chinese produced rebranded model sold in New Zealand

I believe this is the same lift https://www.harborfreight.com/6000-l...ift-91315.html

Ya I was looking at it but the HF lift looks like there is a bar in the back
