I only like narrow body 964s...cuz they have the same parts as mine. I have fear of change. So i only work on C4 narrow body cars...and when a C2 comes into the garage, i do it, but need therapy after i finish. A wide body would lead me to the edge of the cliff, unless maybe the front and rear suspension was changed to narrow components...then we just remove the super fat wheels and i just wouldn't look at the fenders...
So the real scoop is this..for me.....i can't get over that the fenders are crazy fat/wide, and the wheel and tire size is essentially the same as a narrow body car...so for me- if i had a wide body- I'd have to give reason to the fenders and switch to narrow suspension and go fat/wide and meaty for the wheels and tires, or it would make no sense. |

NB for me. To my eye they look more elegant than their wide body counterpart. https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/rennlis...aa591cc6d.jpeg https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/rennlis...24a303eb3.jpeg |

I like them both but the widebody with narrow rear suspension with the deep dish wide wheels is by far my favorite.
You can't tell me that one actually looks better than the other the only ugly 964 is a badly damaged and poorly repaired 964. https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/rennlis...fabf1d0da9.jpg https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/rennlis...52ca61d06f.jpg |
Wow those Fikse!

Can't go wrong with either... but wide body with narrow trailing arms and deep dish rims for the win.

IMHO, 964's look great NB or WB. As a 993 owner, I prefer ONLY the WB 993.

NB for me guys, but I would slightly mod some FRP front wings I have , almost like an ST and that would make it in between NB to WB

Not sure if it is a kit. Kinda hard to see as it is very subtle but these are the best photos that I can find. Hope this gives you an idea of what a finished fender may look like. https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4413/...2e048bf4_h.jpg https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4402/...5d839ecb_h.jpg https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4344/...6b32756c_h.jpg https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4416/...93ea61c5_h.jpg |
I'm not as technically knowledgeable as most on here so can some please clarify what "wide body with narrow trailing arms and deep dish rims" means.
Is there a different suspension setup for wide bodies vs. narrow bodies? What is the normal wheel size for narrow bodies? My rear tires are 265/40-17. I don't have many pictures of my car directly from the rear showing the wheels and stance but this is the best that I have: https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4465/...46380640_h.jpg https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4376/...de912851_h.jpg Is this a narrow body suspension? I don't think the wheels can get much wider and still fit. |
Hello Canuck,
Thanks for the pictures great inspiration ! this is kind of what I am trying to achieve, never though about the Strosek body are they fiberglass ? I love the side body with no side panels I think it looks much better than the original design, as Porsche did for the 993 is the kit still available ? |
Seams that you have narrow arm at the rear with a wide dish wheels, suspensions will be the same as narrow body
Regarding the front you may as well have a NB wishbone with a narrow wheel offset whats called ET and an 8 or 8 1/2 rim the wheel will probably seat where it show on your car. |

I can tell you the ONE thing that really pulls me to the NB look... The margin of the flat area at the edge of the wheel opening. I like that the NB has the really narrow edge there, where the turbo/wb is much...fatter/thicker. I think the smaller edge makes for a "tighter" looking wheel fitment. Anyone?
