I got the below back from a liqui moly engineer once. Use it as you want. I've done the suggested addition of 200ml, but going with M1 15w50 next time. Availability is my issue, so I always have a plan B, C, D and E ready. Just in case.
LM quote:
Porsche Recommend for this type of cars a engine oil with the sepcification
API SF.
The Viscosity can be choosen about 10W-40, 15W-40 and 20W-50.
Normaly these cars use like you wrote a 20"-50 or a 15W-40 but the
viscosity is not decisive.
Is the Engine is quite new or does not leak and work good, we recommend the
MoS2 Leichtlauf 10W-40 LIQUI MOLY oil.
But you can of course also use the 20W50 Touring high tech, both oils has
an ZDDP of 1000.
By adding the Hydraulic System Additive you can boost the ZDDp content.
By a Typical engine oil with 5 Liter oil, the ZDDP increase about 290 ppm
if you add 100 ml of Hydraulic Additive

Well, I bought the classic oil. Going to change it out one of these weekends when I'm not loaded with work or weekend getaways. After all this, I can't see any harm in running it for 6 months or so. Though I doubt I'll spring for it a 2nd time. Seems like BP (despite the new ugly bottles) is still favored pretty well.

Hello All,
Consider our 4100 Power 15W50 vs Brad Penn. Here is a virgin oil analysis I did for the 993 crowd when they were inquiring about the differences. Post #32:

I have been using Brad Penn since owning the car, but it is now difficult to find in Canada for a reasonable price. At $200/case plus shipping, I may as well get Motul 300V comp.
Looking at readily available, local alternatives, it can down to Drive DT50, Mobil 1 or Motul 4100. From available data, they seem to be equivalent with respect to Zn and P. 4100 has more Ca and Moly, so potentially better cleaning and less friction. Most other specs look similar, with the exception of higher boron in M1 which may compensate for less Ca?
Realistically, I don't think you could go wrong with any of them. I used the Motul 4100 for the first time last year, and will be doing another oil change with it this week. Oil temp/pressure and engine sound have been good and it seem to come up to temp quicker. No leaks and no need for an oil top up after 3K miles.
I still wish Motul would publish the specs on this oil, not sure what the big deal is with that.....

The gents at Callas Rennsport recommend Driven for air cooled.

Motul 300V 15-50 is the best
Since Motul 300V has been used there is little question that the engine is quieter in respects to the typical noises of the valves....15-50 was picked for the heat at times noted in this part of Missouri...and I use the same in my BMW M3...which normally requires 10-60. I have not been impressed with either the BMW recommended brand or other after-market 10-60 oils. When I originally bought this 2001 M3 BMW recommended 5-30 oil but after they had problems with some engine blow ups they went to the heavier oils and replaced connecting rod bearings....which mine were just fine. Interesting comparing the ride and style of driving between the two which both have only 33,000 miles....really like the go-kart like style of the 964 compared to the M3. Both valve adjustments are a real issue...a pain to say the least have always done near all the maintenance on this 94 as well as all the other 911s.....prior 911 owned include 75,79,80,84 92 and the current 94....I guess you could call me a Porsche nut...and keep driving them at near 70 yrs old...just finished removing a half-shaft and replacing a torn outer CV boot on the 94 as well as replacing a steering boot which likely just got too old....cars run great.
