Where to Buy Seat Belts?

Hey guys, does anyone have a very nice set of front and back seatbelts for sale or point me in a direction for a set that is not an arm and a leg? Thanks in advance!

Try Autobahn Dismantlers In El Cajon, CA he sells the leftover parts from the Singer donors. He’s on eBay as 1autobahn1.

Rothsport Racing should have some. They are close to PORTLAND OR. Ask for Earl the pearl.

Greg Wolfe 12-28-2018 06:35 PM

Thanks guys. I checked on their websites, but didn't see any. I may call them next week.

PartsHeaven in Hayward as well as LA Dismantlers worth a try too.

When you get good at finding used parts, you know to call these guys and ask. Only sh&t that sits gets updated on websites. Stuff that is wanted sells quick.

Mike at Autobahn in El Cajon, CA is where i got my seat belts, my car had racing seats in it with a harness and zero seatbelts including no hardware, Autobahn had everything and the price was reasonable.

Greg - I'm sending a PM

Does anyone have any experience with seatbeltplanet.com? The reviews seem promising, but I would rather hear first hand experience from fellow rennlisters. Would they be more safe, less safe, or on par with the 25 year old seat belts I have?

I have exchanged emails with Justin many times and I will be getting new belts from them as soon as I can get mine out to send them for refurbishing. Their seatbelts meet FMVSS certifications, so no worries on that front. Prices are reasonable too. One RLer has seatbelts from them, hopefully he will chime in.

You send them your seatbelts? Is this cheaper, like a core charge or something?

Correct, they rewind your mechanism with new webbing.

Okay, so I am assuming it is cheaper to go this route aside from ordering a whole new setup?

Not sure, never done it myself just know people that have. I bought the OEM RS belts for my car, I think they were just under $500 for the fronts so the deal you posted sounds pretty solid assuming they meet safety standards.

I have to check but I have some rear belts someplace out of a low mile car. If you want I will look through my parts bins.

That would be great Anthony, thank you.

Mr. Wolfe

I replaced my belts with units from Seatbeltplanet and I love them.
They were simple to install and look great in the car. Would recommend for sure.

I had very good experience with seatbeltplanet.com. I ordered their sample swatches and picked one that matched the rest of red accents in the car. It is best if you keep as much of your original belt hardware as possible. This will ensure they will look OEM after webbing is replaced. I kept the original buckle and only changed the front shoulder loops since the plastic on mine was cracked. Their premium selection of shoulder loops looked to modern and I asked them for their standard line, which looked almost exactly like OEM. They don't list these on their website but they sent me pictures of what they had available.

Mr. Wolfe

I ended up ordering this exact setup in black. I will review when it comes.

Placed an order with Seat Belt Planet today...... Thanks for the heads up on the hardware Andrew. It was worth the time to call and speak to someone when ordering versus buying online. Very knowledgeable folks.

I recently had them mail color swatches to me to match up with fabric I'll use soon for my seat inserts.

dukmon 02-13-2019 03:26 PM

Hardware looks fine to me. I decided not to use their (Seat Belt Planet) receivers though. My factory receivers look fine and I prefer them. Dropped them off this afternoon for install.

Y'all are probably looking at this color blue and wondering WTF?

That looks like the shade I am ordering (Powder Blue)... Great choice!
So, their standard kit works with the OEM receiver?

dukmon 02-13-2019 03:59 PM

I figured I may have been the only person ever to order Powder Blue belts! Ha......... Great choice indeed. That color seemed to be the best match for the plaid fabric I bought for refinishing my seat centers. Kind of a predominantly black accented with a muted yellow and blues.

Yes, the SBP kit works with the OEM receivers.

Same here, I have some plaid fabric for an interior redo. The Navy blue belts were a really good match, but a bit too close to OEM Black ones to make it worth it. Cobalt and Laguna blues were too far off, Powder Blue seemed to be the right shade to make it interesting.

^^^ Nailed it!!

Mr. Wolfe

dukmon 02-13-2019 04:46 PM

Yes! Very nice. That is going to look great.

My colors are very close (enough) but not exactly perfect. My interior is currently all black. I don't intend to stray too far from that.

You guys are definitely making me jealous of my stock black with red piping.

Mr. Wolfe

964Andrew 02-13-2019 05:39 PM

I'm excited to see the interior redos. Keep posting!

Thanks!
Andrew

Nice color choice. Mine aren't a perfect match either but I don't think anyone will complain. Can't wait to see pics of your interior redo.

If anyone is interested in new seatbelts from seatbeltplanet, I am selling mine. The rears were built with the toungue facing the wrong way and I spoke with them today. I am sending the rears back to get fixed, but I will have them back by next week. They are in new condition and I would sell for $500 shipped OBRO. I paid $565.

The reason I am selling mine is because the rears were built wrong and in the meantime I found my stock rears and I wanted to put the car back together. I am selling the complete set.

Mr. Wolfe

Greg Wolfe 03-25-2019 11:29 AM

$450 OBO if anyone is interested.

Mr. Wolfe
