Nice glass of Syrah and dinner on the way, thought I would share the lastest, in case some of you can't sleep.
So the search has yielded some pretty diverse members of the BMW car club. I think we tend to forget, members of the Porsche club also include the owner of a 1975 Targa with a 993 widebody kit, gold rims and sheepskins. Hey its a Porsh.
BMW has its own brand of Hey its a beemer. At least in the 20 plus year old division, I am not sure I can relate to the 2018 M3 crowd any better than I can to the 991 owner. (son, do you know your baseball hat is on backwards?) But the older models, you would think are more appreciated for what they were; and yet, the search for horsepower crosses all marques, causes all the same cutting and dicing of a car the factory spent a fair amount of time testing and perfecting.
So I checked a few BMW car clubs, found a mature owner of a stock M3 (ok it has a chip) in Daytona Violet/black. No accidents and well maintained. The photos of the engine bay compare exactly with stock photos from R&T; no added flux capacitor or nitrous bottle (no really, it is a thing) just mechanic's fingerprints.
PPI to follow, CarFax is clean, owner is 68 years old; today's version of the little old lady from Pasadena.

Lol poor e36s didn't stand a chance - everyone went after them. Drifters, stance crowd, FI guys, rally cars, you name it.
IMO we lucked out with the S52 stateside. Sure it's a pig compared to a ROW S50B32 but it's an amazing platform for mods and we basically got the S50 late when we got the S54.
Besides, who's got time for valve adjustments

So true, frankly, and I am being a codger here I know; I just cannot understand what some of these young dudes are saying about their cars. I am OK with say "Eezgoddachip". Forgive me, no judgment, just paraphrasing: lims ah rikenoo. Say it out loud, it is Asian. Their English is better than my Japanese or Chinese, so hats off to them.
Usually, one of the first things to be said is that the car has never been tracked ever. That there are a full set of Schroth belts in the front I guess is because what, the brakes are that good?
Second thing is that despite most other cars being susceptible to corrosion, any particular car for sale is totally rust free, despite spending 10 of its 23 years in Ohio. "And you know Beemers don't rust". But Bimmers do, I had one, apparently the salt we used on our food inside was too much for it.
And we all know: yeah but they are freeway miles. Isn't that like "paper cuts are the worst"? No, machete cuts, chainsaw cuts are the worst. Helicopter rotors. I could go on and so could you, especially if you have seen Game of Thrones.
I do have to say though, I would dearly love to meet and have tea with an 84 year old lady driving a 98 M3. It's chipped and with a cold air intake dear, so deary straight from the factory.
My guy is a BMW club member; he bought the car twice having once foolishly sold it, and has it maintained by one of the top Indie's in the area. Good communicator and very forgiving; I asked if there were any parking lot dings, long pause, sigh, no, I park a long way away from the other cars. Ding ding ding, we have a winner.

I did not get to meet owner unfortunately, my wife did and they hit it off famously - car had 40k miles could have driven it forever - sold it to buy a track car, doh!

I had to go back to the first post and reread. Looks like you get the #1 dad trophy. I had a number of late 70's through early 90's BMW's this should be a lot of fun great condition, lines, color and a real drivers car.
That must look fantastic next to the 964.

BMW CCA member's car. 120k miles, no dreaded Dove interior, PPI at a major M shop, all vin tags and records. I am going to get it in Aurora CO in January, with the bride. Should be a great drive home to LA, stop along the way and see a few parts of this great country. Travelogue tips welcome.
