What are these connectors for?

Installed the Rennline phone holder (love it) and when I was monkeying around with the clock I found these extra connectors around back.

any idea what they are for?

They should go to the tip switch (under the clock) used for adjusting the time

That seems reasonable, however in my case the tip switch for setting the time works with those leads as they are (loose), so they must go to something else, or my car is miswired (which could very well be true).

this is on a 1990 Targa C2 by the way, should have mentioned that first.

Just a guess but I think they are for cars with headlight washer systems

Those wires are for the Intensive Cleaning rocker switch (which would sit between the lower speedometer and clock) when equipped.

Thanks gents! No plans to add the intensive cleaning system but at least now I can stop wondering, and/or worrying that I forgot to connect something.
