Back in a 964 after 14 years....

Hey guys,
It’s been way too long, and I’ve missed the platform and forum way too much. I’ve recently been hunting for a project car to tinker with. My last 964 was a C4 with a built twin turbo motor. This one may make some purists gag, but it was a former forum member who brought this car in from Canada with the purpose of creating a Singer/Magnus Walker-eque car. He got discourage by the amount of work needed to go back to 964 panels and moved on.
I have always liked the RWB cars which many hate, and so I was happy to find this Frankenstein track car. It needs loads of work and love, but I slowly plan on giving it what it needs. It has a built 3.8L motor a la RSR style and has been lightened for track duty. It sounds like heaven at WOT and rumbles like race car. The paint work is pretty gross, but that along with all the other issues will be addressed in time. Right now I plan on doing the fluids and replacing bits here and just driving it. I’ll go from there. It’s a huge attention getter. More in fact than its stable mate which is already a total ham! Lol

More to come.

Thanks,

Greg

Wow, interesting looking car!
Are you planning on doing anything with the interior? What's it look like now?

Welcome back, though I am quite the newbie on this forum. I look forward to seeing this car progress!

It’s gutted and functional. I’ll probably put heat and Ac back in and do some aluminum touches to dress it up. RS door panels, Alcantara headliner and maybe back seats for my kids. I’ve cleaned it up since this pic. I’d love to design a nice console in aluminum for around the shifter like Singer does. But that’s down the line.

Looks like a fun project, keep us posted on the progress. The decisions on the interior seem peculiar. Yes, let's remove carpet, insulation, A/C control, but be sure and leave the stock console and door pulls with speaker and radio. Odd, but I guess it suited the owners wants at the time.

Speaking of the interior, interesting grill panel to replace the vent controls...

I'd love to pull up to my kid's school in that monster!
Do the gray and blue parts of the livery peel-off?

Welcome back Eddie. I was a follower of you back in the day and saw you run a few times at my old track (Raceway Park, N.J.) I was racing as well but in the 11.8 index with my 1988 GT sponsored by Larocca Performance. Always enjoyed seeing your car run.

Good luck with the new build. I was so sorry when I saw when happened with your 964. I was hoping that it wasn't damaged to drastically. It was nice seeing a 964 like mine doing its thing.

Let’s see. It’s red. It’s got bbs wheels. It’s all win in my book. Looks fun

Thank you Sir. I spent the week doing some fine tuning and got some good seat time today. What raw, well balanced car! It was 40 degrees here and a total riot on the back roads!

Like that, nice find :burnout: Look forward to seeing what you do with it.
