Pest proof storage techniques?
Thinking of moving my cars out of my heated garage to free up space for a project
so so far I have an Unheated hangar which is not free of pests
thinking of a car cover and the. breathable cover than can zip closed
any other suggestions?

Price a wiring harness and then calculate how much you will need to spend to prevent that. That, to me, is the #1 killer when it comes to storage where there are rodents. I had to replace my John Deere tractors harness from one month parked out at my barn. $$$ Its not a matter if it will happen, it is a matter of when it will happen. To quote Clint Eastwood "do you feel lucky?"

Before anything else, look at a storage insurance policy - comprehensive coverage with rodents included. Fairly inexpensive, just make sure the policy covers it.

I wonder if I could just roll over a large tarp put on a car cover and pull up the sides of the tarp to keep out the mice?
I know the mice can chew thru the tarp but if there is no food odors why would they?

I live out in the country where we have lots of critters just waiting to eat wiring harnesses. My brand new T250 van had 2k in damage last year from mice. I have found that puting an old radio playing softly (music choice is up to you) under the car will work and using Repels-All spray around the car keeps rodents away.

For the last 2 years I've stored 2 different GT3 RS's in a Carcoon which while somewhat costly ( around $1600 ) I've had zero problems with mice which are present in the building I store my cars . Prior to the Carcoon it was a constant battle with older Porsches I owned . Make sure you keep the Carcoon a reasonable distance out from walls so that you can walk around it on a regular basis and to make sure no nests get built alongside it . The best $1600 I've ever spent .

I've been using the ultrasonic devices for years without issue. One on either side of a 2 car garage. I also have a cat, though the cat doesn't go in the garage.

Ha this reminds me when I took out my dads Lancia Flavia HF (ex race car, full straight exhaust and ITBs. Nope, not fulvia) and at the first 2nd gear pull (pretty loud as you can inagine) a freaking mice ran over my leg!
almost crashed that car as I freak out and try to get that rodent off of me.

Scatter dryer sheets around the car and in the tailpipe. I understand they can not tolerate the smell.

Used a Cairoport for 5 years or so in an old barn and it worked just fine.
As mentioned before, leave anough space between it and the wall. The model I used had permanent airflow from 3 fans, which may keep them away as well.
Carcoons with the external frame are the same product as what I had.
Good luck... I love seeing cars hidden in barns and warehouses... there is something special about pulling them out for a run.
