Winter cleaning.....
 

Well, what started as getting a new tire after my front passenger side tire blew, I decided to do some cleaning. I removed all the wheels, plan on removing and replacing the rotors, new pads, four new tires, cleaned the control arms and trailing arms, cleaned the wheel wells and wheels, fix the side skirt on the drives side, and replace the front bumper lower trim. I will be removing the calipers, clean them, strip the paint, prep and painting them. I am going to install the Elephant racing bump steering kit as well. Just received my second RWB steering wheel. Hopefully I'll be able to order my kit next year and prep for a RWB backdate.

Looking at how low your car is set, the angle of the tie rods, I don't think the ER Bump steer kit will make much difference.

'm planing the same thing on my 964 Turbo. Any cleaning tips would be much appreciated , products and methods and tools . I would love to use the dry ice cleaning, But know one around here does it.

I used a Purple Power degreaser from Auto Zone and a stainless steel brush. Also, buckets of hot water and plenty of rags. The oil, grease and grime should come off the the degreaser and wipe away with the wet rag. For the comsoile, or whatever the brown **** is, the brush makes quick work of. On the control/trailing arm, I used a dremel and wire extension on the small crevices.

Obviously you are sitting low with the tyre rub in the arches, and probably below RS height. I would imagine street running at that height would be PIA. My experience when I upgraded my front & rear end is that RS height handled close to the best (open road in mind). Albeit with some tinkering with the alignment. Below RS height was awful. My attempt to use ER Bump steers tie rods was a failure, they don't fit an early 964. I returned them, and switched to FD tie rods. I don't experience bump steer. Up-rights are obviously the best, but big $$ commitment. If it is aesthetics that suit your eye then your height is fine.

Mine is a 92. So you think the ER bump steering kit wouldn't work? What about the BBI uprights or the the Bump steer kit from Carnewal which comes with new GT2 EVO Uprights?

Mine is a '89 C4 K series. FD inner tie rods are a different length for the earlier model. That was the problem for me with the ER BS they were too short. I couldn't dial in the recommended toe. That said, ER's BS should fit your '92 & C2. I am sure others will chime in and on the uprights. I think there is an ongoing argument whether BS kits do make a difference, and if they do, it is in the 'margin' of change.

This might be a stupid question. But why does it look like the car has 2 sets of springs on each corner?

The red ones look to be lower spring rate helper springs which compress before the higher spring rate black ones.

I like the front jacking solution. I will pick up one of those at Harbor Freight.
