Yup, nice clean engine bay but note your engine fan shroud is cracked. Very common, and an easy fix. It’s part #964 106 403 02. Here’s a link for the part at Sunset. Fan shroud

Great color. You have lots of good choices as far as shops go. In MD not far from you there's TAG Motorwerks in Gaithersburg, SSI Motorsports up off the Baltimore beltway in Parkville. On the Virginia side of the beltway, there's Intersport, Auto Sportsystems Group and many others.

Convinced my father that Christmas day was a good day to give the 964 some exercise, particularly since I gave it a new set of tires for Christmas. The tires that came off of it were from '04 (rear) and ... '98 in the front I'm actually somewhat amazed they still held air.
Anyway, felt great with some new tread on it, but the hoped for empty roads did not happen. Apparently we were not the only ones who had the same idea - there was a mid-'60s Plymouth Road Runner (I think) behind us while we trundled along behind a Camry. And we passed a nice looking ... MGA (again, I think?) getting off the interstate just as we were getting on.
So that's probably 100 miles in 5 weeks, which is some sort of recent record for this car
