Default Motorweek retro review video of 1989 Carrera 4

0-60 in 4.5 seconds

Thought the 964 board would appreciate watching the video, I sure did.

Looks more like a 1990 given both spoiler and differential ***** on the console. Unless that was a running change on the 1989 C4?

Fun video, thanks for sharing! D- I’m not aware of any ‘89 models with the spoiler switch on the console either. Plus airbags were not available in ‘89. Must be a ‘90+

Says it's a 1990 at 1:50 into the video. Review was probably done in 1989 for MY 1990. That stock ride height is like a 4x4! Wish they had the camera rolling when they said they got the C4 sideways. Great video.

They say it is a 1990 although I didn't think the CD-2 was offered until 1991.

Another item I saw, and didn't process. Sure am embarrassing myself here.

How many times I've watched it and I didn't even see that until you mentioned it.

What has always struck me about Motorweek reviews was the 60-0 brake test.

Of the 964s they track tested (C2 mit Tip, RSA, C4) all stopped in 112 feet or less. (Even the G-body car recorded a 105 ft stop!)
The 964's stopping distance remained competitive will all 911s through the 997.
I think the current GT3 is in the 90 feet range, at a whole 'nother level (but probably with PCCB and sticky, sticky tires).
Not saying they are the best brakes in the world, but these cars stop very well!

CD-2 was definitely available, my Targa was optioned with it as was my second 928. Now if I could find one that functions even slightly......

Interesting, that contradicts Porsche's Tecknik info documents. Good to know.

I had noticed that too. I always assumed that it was because of the tires that the factory chooses. Ultra sticky track tires would change that. To me, the brakes are fantastic, especially in fade resistance which this test does not stress.
