Alternator?

Alternator?
I cannot seem to find a reasonably priced replacement alternator for my 1994 RSA. I’ve ordered three of them from reputable vendors, and all of three have been cancelled due to no inventory, despite the websites showing them as in-stock.
I see some Porsche dealers show them as available, but at close to $1000 versus the $300-ish of the Bosch alternatives. All ideas welcomed.

I had my alternator rebuilt at a local shop in Danbury CT. https://www.alltechautoelectric.com/
It was $170 for the rebuild, and, more important than the price, I don't think anyone is making an alternator for our cars with quality comparable to the original units.

Buy a Bosch rebuilt unit they are recondition with all new internals. IIRC I paid mid $300's for my track car and it works fine

Our experiences with rebuilt alternators and starters are not great so I'm VERY cautious about such parts. We cannot afford come-backs and angry customers so I've resorted to buying new ones, not rebuilts.
Bosch rebuilds are some of the very worst.
If you have quality local rebuilder, that would be your least expensive option.

I have heard that but have had no issues.
Take it for what it is worth but I had been informed in confidence that they had so many returns they no longer rebuild them and install nearly all new internals. I took a rebuild apart and it seemed as though this was the case. The shaft and all the accompanying parts had no signs of any wear especially on the triple square which used to always looked glutted and reconditioned before.

I've gone through a few as well.
My last one i bought through Butzigear - and i was shocked. It cost the same as a rebuild. Sent mine back as a core as you would w a rebuild. But the unit i got was indiscernible from a new unit. Maybe it was a rebuild. But it's been flawless, so who ever Butzi is using as a supplier- i was very happy. And it came overnight.
So if you are in the states. Give Dave at butzigear a shout - http://butzigear.com
