Default Considering 964

Folks, i'm considering a 964 with freshly rebuild engine/transmission, about 1k miles ago, with 145K miles on the car. Everything else is decent as well. The seller whats mid $30s for it. It had some body panels damage, but was restored and looks appropriate. I'm looking for a car to tool around in without worrying about 'lost value'. Thoughts? Too much?

Sounds like a good value if the rebuild checks out. Mid thirties would be on the low end of 964 transactions, based on available information. If the body is "ok" driver quality and the motor/transmission are rebuilt to a good standard, I would say this car is under market by at least $10k.

Does the seller have invoices for that work or remember where the work was performed? In addition to some documentation on the transmission and motor rebuild, I would have a ppi done just to be sure.

Is it a coupe, targa or convertible? Also is it a manual or tip? Does the accident history show up on carfax? Is the mileage confirmed to be accurate?

Post up some pictures of the car if you can, that will help with assessing condition/value.

Manual coupe. The seller is my mechanic. He is an expert engine re-builder and he will be the one to maintain it going forward.

Manual coupe at $35k is at least $10k under market value assuming everything else is in order.

Buy it, even it has been in an accident that would be a fair deal...... if not I'll write a check for it right now.

What does carfax say? If it has a rebuilt title from a total accident then the deal is not so sweet.

Just evaluate the car closely and ensure you know what you’re getting. Have a 3rd party inspection it. Based on what you’ve shared it sounds like a good value. But... there are a lot of buts...

Yes, of course, I'll do the due diligence. Don't have a VIN yet to get the carfax.
