Bought some H4's from a fellow member.
The Lenses and reflectors weren't perfect, so I bought new ones, and rebuilt them.
Because I like fresh.

That looks awesome Nick, nice attention to detail. Is the rebuild process limited to H4 or can the H5 also be redone?

Thanks man!
Unfortunately you cannot rebuild the H5.
They are a sealed unit.
You can however pour in alcohol through the vent hole on the back side to clean the inside of the lens, and let evaporate for 24-48 hours.
Or just get some H4's .. haha.

Ok so they are inherintly different. I did do the alcohol trick and it made a huge difference but I was curious if the lenses could be changed too.

Yeah, at some point I need to do something about the lighting on the Targa. Last year when driving at night on the backroads from Rennsport I was driving blind. The combination of no street lights and the crappy H5’s with likely bad aim was a nightmare. I never want to experience that again.

Yeah, the dismal H5 light is 50% of my decision to buy H4.
Other 50% is because they are so damn sexy.

Have you seen the car where they painted the matte gray inner section black? It was a purple car. Actually looked good. I was going to spray some black on mine to see how it looked on my polar silver but then decided it was too much hassle to disassemble.

But now am curious to see how that looks.

For you guys that have H4's, did you add a relay or just plug and play with the adapter?

I'd say it's a smart decision to add in the relays if you plan to use the true 100W bulb.
I did not want to go this route, so I am using the CandlePower Volsa Plus 100, 60/55W bulb that replaces the Osram 70/65w Hyper H4 bulb.
Supposedly this is the highest output bulb you can use, safely, without needing to add relays.

I added relays - the stock setup runs the current for the lights through the switch on the dash, which causes voltage drop and runs the risk of burning out the switch if you run "hot" bulbs.

3 Day weekend road trip to Utah and back.
Installing the extended wheel studs, H4 headlights and RS dummy fog lights next week.
Loving the weather right now!
